Don't buy this one
I ordered this dog bed because of the AKC endorsement. What a disappointment! My puppy scratched a hole in the cover within an hour of taking it out of the box. And the foam insert is made of chunks of foam glued together, so every time I take the cover off to wash it, pieces of the foam fall off all over the floor or stick to the cover and have to be picked off. Don't waste your money on this one.
didn’t make it through night one
Even when inside the case, the mat can be easily chewed and destroyed with a few bites. She never got through the case, but the bed is in chunks. Didn’t make it through night one with my puppy. Do not recommend for puppies. Went back to the bed she had in there before and no issues. Maybe it has a chewy smell?
Was great until the zipper broke
I bought this item in September 2021. I liked it because I can fit two horizontally in a Frisco XL dog crate and then I can wash them in my washer (versus an extra large washer at the laundromat). I did remove the covers recently to wash them. My dog has been gentle with these (she only lays on them). When re-inserting the memory foam and zipping it back up, the zipper came off in my hand. It has been staying on, even without being zipped up. However, it's frustrating that I maybe only unzipped it about four times and it broke! I can't buy a replacement cover, which would be ideal since the foam is in really great shape.
Ripped apart
My dog had this crate mat ripped apart in no time & completely destroyed in 6 weeks time. Disappointed.
Doggie Crate Pad
It is a great foam pad - good quality. I bought two of them. I liked the quality fabric cover. But, the foam must have an odor offensive to dogs, because my female spayed Boston Terrier chewed two of them to bits - after tearing open the cover by ripping out the zipper. The foam must have an odor only found by dogs. I can’t explain the dog’s behavior. She loved sleeping on it. She does not chew up toys or furniture etc. There must be an odor in the foam only known to a dog. Don’t buy if your dog has chewed up other foam products. The cover is cloth and very nice. My dog ripped out the zipper to get to the foam. She is a small female Boston - not a mini. She will sleep on her throws going forward.
AKC orthopedic pet mat
I bought these for my dogs and they love them. I went to wash the covers and the pad inside has disintegrated and completely came apart. They could not be reused at all. I guess the outside cover is made very thinly and did not keep the pad inside protected. They are used in their kennels for sleeping and never gotten wet.
Crate pad cover is NOT durable
We've taken the cover off multiple times to wash it and it's now ripped and the zipper is broken. The orthopedic mat is GREAT, it's tight and cushion-y...but the cover is not at all well made, although it is very soft. The mat fits tight inside, which is good, but you have to kind of stretch the cover to get it back on. Looking for another crate pad now, unless I can just replace the cover to this one...
Nice bed for dogs
The bed is apparently super comfy as all 4 of the dogs enjoy laying on it. It fits in crate nicely and like that it has removable cover. The zipper isn't of the best quality in the previous bed identical to this one i own but still think acceptable for money.
Sheds Like Crazy
I have a maltipoo who likes to scratch his beds a little bit. He seems to love it as far as comfort, but the material sheds and sticks to his fur and he carries it all over the house. I wouldn't buy this item again unless it was a more durable material.
Plush and provides good support
As usual, we were very happy with our purchase from Chewy. Our dog loves to be in his crate more than before thanks to his new crate pad. It is really deluxe soft and looks very comfortable!
