Senior & Overweight Adult Cats May be fed a reduced amount, depending on the cat's weight and activity level.
Pregnant & Lactating Females May be fed at twice the adult recommendations. Lactating females require twice the amount of food as an adult cate and should be fed 3 to 4 times a day.
Gradually transition your pet to any new food over the course of 7-14 days to help avoid the digestive upset that abrupt changes in diet can cause. If your pet tends to be on the sensitive side, it may be best to take a little extra time. 1. Start by feeding your pet a mix of 25% new food and 75% old food for the first few days. 2. Then, increase the amount of new food to about 50% and feed that half-and-half mix for a few days. 3. Proceed to feeding 75% new food/25% old food for the next few days. 4. Complete the transition by feeding just the new food on its own.
I selected this food as, on paper, it met my cats dietary requirements. After further review with my veterinarian, however, it became clear that this brand uses buzzwords and marketing over actual scientific information. I did attempt to contact the company for additional information per the WSAVA guidelines. They did reply, but with none of the information I asked for and were very cagey. They do not participate in any nutritional studies, and say that “the research is all in the customer satisfaction”. That is not research. This brand appears to be targeting people who want a "natural" product, and offers no proof of scientific backing. Plus, for a brand they nudge as allergy-friendly (as evidenced by how they state "heard about the problems with those common allergenic ingredients" corn/wheat) there are so many protein sources, with far more common allergens for cats (like chicken and fish). Don't be a fool like me and waste your money on this gimicky brand.
Poor quality food. Does not meet veterinary standards of nutrition and has questionable ingredients. There are other options of better quality for better pricing.
My cat loves this food and she looks so much better since eating it. Her fur has gotten thicker and her weight has gotten back to her norm. She had been getting thin and shabby looking. She is 16 years old and hopefully will be with me for many more. Also, hairballs are down to very few instead of a daily ordeal.
I have one finicky eater and one that eats it before it eats her. Both of them would sell me into slavery for this food.
My cats absolutely love this food! Only thing I don’t like is I can’t auto ship it
Don't waste your money on this. My cats hated it and I ended up donating it to the shelter.
I have 3 cats and I used to feed them the cheap food from grocery stores such as Friskies or Special Kitty. I never paid attention to what was in the ingredients. They seemed to have had digestive issues with it and I slowly learned how bad it was for my cats to be eating. So I started buying higher end, quality foods and went with this! They not only LOVE it but I have really noticed a difference with their digestive health. I went from cleaning up puke 1-2 times per day to once every 1-3 months!!! Please make sure you always look into what you’re feeding your pets! Highly recommend this food!
What is natural about feeding a carnivore two different kinds of rice and then barley. These are even the top main ingredients. I dream that one day pet parents will research how to feed their cats species appropriate food and demand that manufacturers get on board so those who don't know any better have no choice but to feed what cats are born to eat. This food is like you eating only potato chips. You will live but you won't be healthy.
We've been feeding our 5 yr old calico natural, healthy dry foods (she won't touch wet) for the eight months we've had her. But we've had to try different brands because she never seemed to be satiated on them. Some even made her vomit. Plus, she was constantly trying to get at our food, sometimes aggressively. Even caught her nibbling artificial plants and cobwebs! After reading reviews on American Natural Premium I thought it might be the 'one'. The day it arrived I put a few bits in with her other kibble. She gobbled them up. Each day I added a little more - she would pick out the ANP and leave the rest! So far, she's tolerated this better than any other food. Things we notice in the two weeks she's been eating it... She seems satiated, isn't begging for our food (we can get through dinner now without her trying to snatch something off our plates). She's sleeping longer and more soundly. She vomited only once (hairball). She is calmer.
The loved it so much that they broke into the box and the bag and chowed down!!
