Is it quiet?
Answer by ChewyOct 28, 2018
This grinder is quiet.

Will this work, or is it recommended for use on parrots beaks? I have a parrot that needs occasional beak conditioning due to a medical condition, but I also would like a tool that can be used on my dogs and cats as well as my parrot.
Answer by ChewyJul 16, 2017
This grinder was manufactured for use on dogs. A nail file, a fingernail, side-cutting wire cutters, or clippers should be used instead to trim a parrots beak. We urge you to locate your local avian vet for beak trimming.

Can this be used on thick nails?
Answer by ChewyJul 17, 2019
This grinder is designed for use with any dog or cat breed.

Does this tool have a guard so I know I won’t be grinding down too far?
Answer by ChewyJul 14, 2019
This grinder does not have a guard.

Unfortunately Unusable

We purchased a couple corded nail trimmers to use when we’re trimming lots of nails in one session. This one has lots of great add ons (case, different sandpaper grains, different heads), but without a cover and without more speed options, it’s impossible to wield. It rotates too quickly to be easy to control, but has no shield to help stabilize it (hold closer to the tip) or to protect the dog’s paws/fluff. I’d call it a liability, not a tool

Good for small dogs

I would NOT recommend for a large dog with larger/thicker nails! NOT powerful enough, I trim over 20 dogs a day

Works great

As a dog groomer, this is the nail grinder I have always used. If you use the tool supplied to tighten the screw on the end, the sanding band stays on absolutely fine, unscrew it to loosen the sanding band to change it.

Quite and works well

My dog will NOT allow me to clip her nails. It's the only time she has ever truly bitten me. Shes a small dog but powerful when she even SAW the clippers. I've tried training and it seemed worth it to try something else along with the training. These grinders were recommended to me by the groomer that noticed my dog is better with the grinder then clippers. They are way quiter then I even expected and if you follow the instructions to tighten the sander on the wheel it works perfectly. It still took some treats and training but my dog now let's me do a whole paw before having to give her a treat. This grinder saved me money and headache while improving my training with my dog.

Andis pet grinder

Tbh im not that impressed it works but not as well as I had hoped it is better than doing just the clippers but not good enough on its own.

Great item, quiet

This is very quiet, and we would have loved to try it out on Copper. He would have nothing to do with it when turned on. we tried for a week to get him used to it, but it didn't get any better. This item will be donated to an animal shelter. Hopefully they get some use out of it!

Has lasted for years

I have had this for a couple of years now and honestly no complaints, it's quieter than most and my bit never comes loose. it's sleeker design makes it easier than others I've used in the past to really round off the nail. The set up is easy and it comes with extra bits which are useful. The cord is decent length as well, which I like as that was my initial concern. Kind of wish it was cordless, but it's lasted a while and filed my dog's nails countless times at this point. Definitely worth what I spent.

Great product

Easy to use, quiet and smooth operation. The sanding drums make quick work of nail length and the polishing cone smooths away rough edges. Been mindful of the quick. It's a small rubbery light spot that will bleed if it's hit. This method is the best for getting your dog's toe nails the proper shortness to avoid the damage done to their feet by nails that are chronically too long.

Instructions are horrible.

I was pretty bummed on this. The instructions were not complete. Not only that, I cannot keep the darn sand paper on the end. It keeps sliding off. I will have to figure something else out since it didn’t work.
