Instructions

Your Andis nail grinder comes with two sizes of sanding drums and sanding bands: 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch.

  • To remove a sanding drum: depress collet release button while turning collet nut counter-clockwise using wrench provided until loose (see Figure B). Remove sanding drum.

  • To insert a new sanding drum: insert the sanding drum into the collet. Depress collet release button while turning collet nut clockwise until it locks into place. Using wrench provided, turn collet nut clockwise until sanding drum is tight (see Figure C).

  • To replace a sanding band, loosen the screw (using the small screwdriver tip on the wrench provided) to contract the drum and slide the old band off. Slide the new sanding band on, and expand the drum by tightening the screw again.

IMPORTANT: Before each use, check that the drum is sufficiently expanded to secure the band during use. If band is loose during operation, it may be thrown from grinder and cause injury.

I am a professional groom of 30 years + This product is useful but mostly for people to use at home or if they want to offer it at a salon and be sure the people understand it won't be drastically different but it does help. It can be set to quiet which is nice for very nervous dogs. I have found the sand paper comes off easily and I do not like that it gets hot when it is actually(finally) getting the job done. I have recently purchased a small and large different head (about $80 for both) they work great with this you just have to figure out how to get the old off and the new on. It can be adjusted as well with speed and sound and it does not get hot and grinds them much faster AND I am a professional groom of 30 years + This product is useful but mostly for people to use at home or if they want to offer it at a salon and be sure the people understand it won't be drastically different but it does help. It can be adjusted as well with speed and sound and it does not get hot and grinds them much faster AND blunts the tip of the nail. It is made by Diamondg Rotary nail grinder. It was lots of trial and error but it is a very nice tool to have even for personal pets. I like how it works on this pet grinder-I have 2 1 for small and 1 for large so I don't waste time switching. … more

  • Like but only works on high

This is my first nail grinder. Before I just used standard clippers and a manual file. My big dog loves her nails being done so this nail grinder although it's new to her she didn't mind. It's simple to use. Best if used on already short nails. Easy to shape the nails. Low setting doesn't do anything even on my small dog but the low setting is probabaly best for the finishing stone. It's a little jumpy but once you get used to it, it's easier to control. My little dog hates his nails being done but he tolorated the grinding better than the clippers.

  • Reliable performance

    By on

I use this in my grooming business. I broke the first one (my fault) after using it for 4 years. Can't beat the price and it performs well with dogs of all sizes. The electric cord on the Andis is long enough to reach from the outlet to my grooming table, so it isn't a problem. Prior to this I used a battery operated dremel. When the battery wore out, I found out that dremel changed the design so a new battery wasn't available for the model I owned. The Andis price is more reasonable than the price for a dremel.

  • Andis pet nail grinder

I just opened this and it looks really nice. After reading the instructions several times, I can’t figure out how to insert the sanding drum in the collet. It doesn’t go in. Not sure if something is wrong with it or it’s just me. Very frustrated.

  • Good idea, but doesn't work

    By on

I give it one star only because it got here really fast. I was very disappointed in this item. It took a while to get Emma Lee to trust me to use it on her nails. When I tried to trim her nails it wasn't powerful enough to get the job done. Another sad puppy. I'd like to get a refund please.

  • Great Grooming Tool

    By on

I have 4 dogs (two German Shepherds, an Akita and a Pomeranian). I use this Dremel on all four with no problem! There are two speeds and it must be plugged into a power outlet - which means the power will never weaken due to a dying battery! I highly recommend. Putting the grinder on was a little confusing until I realized it is just like putting a bit in a power drill. You won’t be disappointed with this purchase.

  • First time grinder.

    By on

I liked it. I am 60, first puppy for decades. After clipping the nails the puppy scratched the grandkids, correction was not always fast enough. I introduced the grinder in small increments with treats, took about 4-5 times. The grinder is quiet, the dog is smart, I would definitely recommend it.
