Some horses just won't eat aspirin - that's what oral syringes are for

By Barnhand on Apr 13, 2021

I worked in a barn with 75+ horses, and several got aspirin. Some would eat it with their grain, and some wouldn't, regardless of how the powder was flavored. We kept watered-down molasses in a squirt bottle, and would just put some of that in an oral syringe with the aspirin (or whatever medication a horse wouldn't eat). The horses accepted that well.

    Works for old pony

By Katelyn on Mar 24, 2019

I have a 19 year old dartmoor who has been plagued by arthritis for several years. He is still going strong despite this, and he and I are a very close pair after being brought together over a decade ago. We’ve grown up together, literally, as I’m nearly 19 years like him. I do anything to make him comfortable and happy, he loves to work even through this all. This helps him continue on continuing on, half a scoop in his feed the days he’s feeling a little worse for wear, and he’s back to outrunning an OTTB.

Certainly Works but Horse Hates Eating it

    By zoyaNisaac95 on Feb 6, 2019

I have a 17 year old gelding that thinks he's 37 and hates cold winters (we live in Northern Wisconsin..poor guy!). This stuff works amazingly well at relieving his stiff hocks he gets in cold weather. The only problem is, my horse absolutely hates eating this stuff! My horse's favorite thing to do is eat...so him not wanting to touch that stuff must mean it tastes terrible (the smell makes me nauseous)! But with some molasses, he'll eat it right up. So that'd be my only word of caution.

    Works good for old Thoroughbred

By MissNorma on Apr 16, 2019

My elderly mare has arthritis and is prone to seasonal laminitis. This works good and is recommended by veterinarians. I mix this in a large syringe with fruit punch and deliver it directly in her mouth.

By GreyOaks on Mar 31, 2019

The smell of this product put my horse off but will try lacing the dose with something sweet.

    Would not Recommend

By Cajun on Oct 17, 2018

This is a fine white powder that is extremely dusty, and does not appear to have any sweet molasses flavoring as claimed in the description. Also, you must VERY carefully scoop it into your feed buckets, otherwise you will inhale a face-full of aspirin yourself! My older horses will generally consume anything that I mix with their feed, but they did not care for this at all. Most likely, because they weren't eating enough of it, I saw no positive effects. I would recommend searching for a better, more palatable, and effective aspirin supplement.

    Lame rescue horse

By Nizou on Oct 28, 2018

This product has been amazing!! I could see a noticeable improvement within three or four day. One large end scoop in the morning, one at night. This abused horse could not walk and was facing euthanasia. I also use Pureflex from the same manufacturer. Thank you Chewey!!!
