Description

Help make your aquarium a safe, healthy place for your finned friends with API Ammonia Freshwater & Saltwater Test Kit. With this bundle, it's easier than ever to test your tank for harmful ammonia. Tropical fish continually release ammonia through their gills, urine and solid waste, but it also accumulates through uneaten fish food. This kit comes with everything you need to test your water, so you can take quick action if your ammonia levels are raised. Using a color coding system that is easy to read, simply combine a few drops of the aquarium water in the included test tube with the solution, and review your results.

Key Benefits
  • Ammonia liquid testing kit accurately tests the ammonia level in freshwater and saltwater tanks.
  • Uses an easy-to-read color chart and clear instructions to determine if your levels are too high.
  • Tests ammonia levels from 0 to 8 ppm and includes 130 tests for regular testing.
  • Simply combine drops of aquarium water and the tester solution in the included glass tube.
  • Ammonia is the number one killer of tropical fish, so testing is an essential part of your routine.

FAQ

Is it correct for the #2 bottle in the API AMMONIA TEST KIT to have a slightly bigger hole in the spout than the #1 does? I’m concerned my test kit isn’t accurate because of this.

The dropper tips are all the same, but the viscosity of the liquids are different. Drops may appear to be larger coming out due to the thickness of the drop.

  • Liquid tests are key

    By on

I’ve been using this product for over 10 years. Dip strips are just NOT the same. The liquid test is more precise, more accurate and easier to read, in my opinion. Also, very important, if you don’t have a bunch of tanks, it’s very important to rebuy before the expiration - you may not go through the whole bottle before then if you have just a single 10 gallon tank.

  • This test kit is easy to use and accurate.

    By on

Ammonia is one of the worst things to have in an aquarium. There is no way of knowing whether your aquarium has it without testing for it-sick or dying fish can be due to other causes. This test will quickly and easily let you know whether your tank does have ammonia.

  • Easy to use

    By on

I'm new to fish keeping but this has made it easy to check my waters.. they have made it easy to see the levels your water is at with a picture on the side of the bottle that you put the strip up to it and see based on the coloring. I use this and I bought the ammonia kit's to make sure my tank is safe for my betta

  • A miracle for my aquarium

    By on

Worked immediately. No ammonia in tank now. And 1/3-1/4 the price I’d pay at petsmart.

I own API's Master Freshwater Test Kit, but since I use the ammonia test more than the others, I'm always having to go out and by individual tests. API's Ammonia test kit, is probably the only NH3/NH4 test that accurately reads your water's ammonia levels. However, if you use any product that depletes and/or converts free ammonia(NH3) into ammonium (NH4), given you had ammonia levels present in your water column before adding the said product, API's test kit will show that you have ammonia present in your aquarium, even if it's not in its toxic (NH3) form. This doesn't mean it'll readily harm your fish, rather, the test kit cannot exactly decipher the difference between NH3 and NH4.
