Should I add salt everytime I chnage half The water in the rank
Answer by ChewyJun 25, 2017
Add 1 rounded tablespoon for every 5 U.S. gallons or 1/2 rounded teaspoon for every U.S. gallon of aquarium water. When doing a water change, add any treatments and supplements to the new water before adding it to your aquarium.

Can I use this if I have snails? I have two nerites and two mysteries. I want to use it for my goldfish to help with his treatment, as I believe it would definately finish it off greatly, but I have read it can kill snails and then others say it can not. Will this specific container kill my snails?
Answer by ChewyMar 24, 2020
API Aquarium Salt can be used with freshwater snails in the aquarium.

I think my betta has some type of fungal on it's head. Will this work to get rid of it?
Answer by ChewySep 19, 2017
This product is intended to keep your freshwater fish healthy and promotes recovery from diseases, increases fish health and reduces stress. However to treat and heal wounds, diseases and infections use API Bettafix Natural Healing for Betta Fish. (item 94326).

Is there a test I can do to see if I put too much salt
Answer by ChewyApr 26, 2021

Perfect for keeping fish healthy

Make sure to follow instructions, don't screw over your shrimp or snails with too much salt. This salt is really good though, helps tears in fins heal quickly. The largest batch is the best batch to get you'll be using it a lot in water changes.

always good to have on hand

I always keep this on hand for sick fish and doing salt baths for new fish before putting them in aquarium. A little in the aquarium keeps fish healthy but watch as some plants and snails cant handle any salt.

This is like Kryptonite

This product keeps my live bearing happy and healthy. This one day my platy had a mild fin rot. I poured the salt into the quarantine box and it took a while for it to fully dissolve. My fish fin were growing back the next day. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I use this after completing water changes .

Helped with ick

I ordered this product in order to help my new fish get rid of the parasite "ick". I used it in combination with an API treatment and I set the heater to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. It worked! I have live plants so I was restricted to only using a small amount. I treated the first time with just the treatment. Didn't work. After adding the salt and treating for ick twice, the problem resolved about a week later. About 4 months later, my Dalmatian mollies are doing just fine!
