Will this kill internal parisites
Answer by ChewyJan 18, 2018
The General Cure treats for internal parasites.

Will this harm the snail in my tank? She’s a yellow mystery snail.
Answer by ChewyMay 05, 2018
This product will not harm snails.

Does this product adversely affect biological filtration?
Answer by ChewyJul 26, 2018
This treatment doesn't kill the biological filtration, however you do have to remove carbon or zeolite if you have it in your filter because it will absorb the medication.

I have Koi pond - is this product used as a preventative product for outside use,
Answer by ChewyJun 28, 2022
The API General Cure product will remove parasites from fish regardless of whether they are kept indoors or outdoors. Outdoor fish may need to be moved to a temporary quarantine tank for treatment, to assure proper dosing, if the exact water volume is not known or is too large for treatment. This product should not be used in unlined ponds and is not for fish intended for human consumption. You are able to re-treat with this product if needed, such as when new fish are introduced that may be harboring new parasites. For ponds that are too large or for fish that are un-catchable: we recommend use of API Pond Salt to reduce disease in ponds.

Not toxic, but unsure if effective

I purchased this product to treat my female betta, who suddenly presented with a dramatically swollen abdomen on the right side of her body. She became ill after I introduced ghost shrimp to the tank and 3 rounds of kanamycin didn’t help at all, so I decided to try this in case she’d picked up parasites. The packets of General Cure are easy to open and very conveniently dosed where 1 packet = 10 gallons. I did a 3-dose treatment course and while she still looks weirdly swollen she didn’t react badly to the medication at all. She’s in a filtered, planted, 5 gallon tank- just as background info. I obviously removed her carbon filter for the treatment and the General Cure didn’t turn my water a strange color, which was nice. My plants and snails don’t seem negatively affected, either. I can’t say how effective this product is, since she still looks swollen, but she might honestly just have something else wrong with her so I can’t fault the product for that. Overall this product is easy to use and caused no obvious toxicity, so I would recommend giving it a try.

Not Sure Really

This is supposed to help treat my fish and was recommended by another aquarist friend. Unfortunately, it did not help or hurt. I don't really have more input. It does cloud your water and you have to use a lot for larger tanks

Seems to do the job for worming the fish

I use this if I suspect the goldfish are having issues with internal parasites. The symptoms have improved after treatment, so it seems to be effective.

General cure

We searched everywhere drove hours to try and find General cure during it's shortage. I am very greatful it returned when it did (sad not sooner). With two doses I was able to save a krib suffering from Popeye. He barley has any Popeye left we will repeat a third dose to clear it up the rest of the way. He was one of the worse cases I had experienced and we didn't expect him to pull thru, thankfully on day 4 general cure got here. I also have a Angelfish with HITH I did treatment once of two days already and my water change... Definitely when we took pictures and compare them very big noticeable difference. Due to sensitivity, I was giving him a couple days and will be resuming another round again this week!

General Cure

It really does work to clear up a sick fish. I use it when I have to quarantine a fish and generally it saves them with in one treatment. I highly recommend this as a go to if you are unsure of what is ailing your fish.

Love this product

I just wish it came in smaller doses for smaller tanks. Even 5 gallon would help/ most hospital tanks are 5 gallon

Do Not Use on Goldfish or Koi!

I bought some to use because I thought some of my new fish had internal parasites and maybe flukes. They didn’t get any better. By the second day of the treatment (used as prescribed) half of my fish were dead or dying. I’m throwing the rest of the package in the trash! It killed my Shebunkin in the first 8 hours!
