I purchased this product to treat my female betta, who suddenly presented with a dramatically swollen abdomen on the right side of her body. She became ill after I introduced ghost shrimp to the tank and 3 rounds of kanamycin didn’t help at all, so I decided to try this in case she’d picked up parasites. The packets of General Cure are easy to open and very conveniently dosed where 1 packet = 10 gallons. I did a 3-dose treatment course and while she still looks weirdly swollen she didn’t react badly to the medication at all. She’s in a filtered, planted, 5 gallon tank- just as background info. I obviously removed her carbon filter for the treatment and the General Cure didn’t turn my water a strange color, which was nice. My plants and snails don’t seem negatively affected, either. I can’t say how effective this product is, since she still looks swollen, but she might honestly just have something else wrong with her so I can’t fault the product for that. Overall this product is easy to use and caused no obvious toxicity, so I would recommend giving it a try.
This is supposed to help treat my fish and was recommended by another aquarist friend. Unfortunately, it did not help or hurt. I don't really have more input. It does cloud your water and you have to use a lot for larger tanks
I use this if I suspect the goldfish are having issues with internal parasites. The symptoms have improved after treatment, so it seems to be effective.
good product and fest delivery i love chewy store to shop
We searched everywhere drove hours to try and find General cure during it's shortage. I am very greatful it returned when it did (sad not sooner). With two doses I was able to save a krib suffering from Popeye. He barley has any Popeye left we will repeat a third dose to clear it up the rest of the way. He was one of the worse cases I had experienced and we didn't expect him to pull thru, thankfully on day 4 general cure got here. I also have a Angelfish with HITH I did treatment once of two days already and my water change... Definitely when we took pictures and compare them very big noticeable difference. Due to sensitivity, I was giving him a couple days and will be resuming another round again this week!
Great item to have on hand i ordered 6 and only recieved 3 though why i gave it a 3 star
It really does work to clear up a sick fish. I use it when I have to quarantine a fish and generally it saves them with in one treatment. I highly recommend this as a go to if you are unsure of what is ailing your fish.
I just wish it came in smaller doses for smaller tanks. Even 5 gallon would help/ most hospital tanks are 5 gallon
I bought some to use because I thought some of my new fish had internal parasites and maybe flukes. They didn’t get any better. By the second day of the treatment (used as prescribed) half of my fish were dead or dying. I’m throwing the rest of the package in the trash! It killed my Shebunkin in the first 8 hours!
Package arrived with a broken seal and powder in the shipping box
