Description

Help set and stabilize pH levels with API's Proper pH 8.2 Aquarium Water Treatment. Different fish need different pH levels to stay healthy. For example, Saltwater, Brackish and African Cichlids thrive at 8.2. Levels that are too high, or too low, can cause stress, illness and can even lead to fish loss. This API water treatment helps modify and maintain pH for several weeks while neutralizing harmful chlorine and toxic heavy metals. It also contains soothing aloe vera and electrolytes to help reduce fish stress. Best of all, it's easy to use and fast dissolving, making it ideal to use during aquarium set up or water changes.

Key Benefits
  • Formulated to help set and stabilize pH at 8.2 for fish who thrive off of this level like African cichlids fish.
  • Specifically designed to help modify and maintain pH levels in brackish, freshwater and saltwater aquariums.
  • Helps to remove chlorine and detoxify heavy metals, for a more habitable environment for your finned friends.
  • Contains aloe vera to help heal and regenerate damaged tissue, plus electrolytes to help prevent electrolyte imbalance.
  • Easy to use, fast dissolving and is ideal to use during setup and water changes.
Precautions

Not for use in aquarium containing live plants.

Test your aquarium's pH level with API's pH Test Kit, pH Test and Adjuster Kit or pH Test Strips.

Instructions

For African Cichlid Aquariums Proper pH should never be used without first adding an African Cichlid Salt. Proper pH 8.2 was designed for use is hard water containing many salts and minerals, such as water in the lakes where African Cichlids originate. If it is used in water containing few salts and minerals, an unnaturally high pH can result. Using the enclosed measuring spoon, add one scoop of Proper pH for every 10 gallons (40 L) of aquarium water. Repeat treatment when a pH test indicates a change of more than 0.2 pH units away from the desired pH level.

For Saltwater Aquariums Using the enclosed measuring spoon, add one scoop of Proper pH for every 10 gallons (40 L) of aquarium water. Repeat treatment when a pH test indicates a change of more than 0.2 pH units away from the desired pH level. For best results, pre-dissolve in a separate container with aquarium water, then pour into aquarium.

FAQ

What is API PROPER PH?

API PROPER PH powder is a buffer that automatically raises or lowers pH and stabilizes it at the level promoted on the product label. Because it is a true buffer, Proper pH will automatically adjust and hold the pH at 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, and 8.2. Proper pH 6.5, 7.0, and 7.5 powders also neutralize chlorine, detoxify heavy metals, and add electrolytes to the aquarium. Proper pH 8.2 is a carbonate/bicarbonate buffer formulated for use in saltwater aquariums and with African cichlids.

How does API PROPER PH adjust pH?

The Proper pH formulas are more than pH adjusters; they are pH buffers. pH buffers are formulated to “lock in” the pH at a predetermined pH level. pH buffers compensate for fluctuations in pH automatically, adjusting the pH to the predetermined level. Proper pH 7.0, for example, will lower or raise the pH until 7.0 is reached. pH will not “rebound” to the original level.

How many doses of API PROPER PH will it take to adjust my pH?

Normally, one dose will set the pH. Some tap water sources used in freshwater aquariums are strongly buffered at pH 8.0 and above. In this case, it may require two doses of API PROPER PH to overcome the buffer system and reset the pH to a desirable level.

How long will API PROPER PH last in the aquarium?

In most aquariums, API PROPER PH lasts several weeks. As PROPER PH works to maintain a stable PH, it gets “used up.” Natural acids formed by the decomposition of fish waste also neutralize API PROPER PH. Aquariums with large fish or heavily stocked aquariums may require more frequent use of API PROPER PH. When you see the pH begin to shift out of the desired range, it is time to add another dose of API PROPER PH. Adding tap water or making water changes can cause a pH shift. Proper pH can be added whenever a water change is made.

By Eddie on Feb 28, 2020

For those saying the product didn’t work, did you happen to read the instructions where it says “You need to use a Cichlid or aquarium salt prior to use for the ph treatment to work properly, aquarium salt and proper ph 7.0- 8.2 should be bought together and used together.
