Treat bacterial disease with the triple-fighting action of Triple Sulfa freshwater fish medication from API. Most bacterial diseases are caused by dirty aquarium conditions, but there are smaller groups that can infect fish even when their homes are spotless. Left untreated, those germs can ultimately harm or kill your finned friends. But this solution combines the effectiveness of sodium chloride, sulfathiazole and sulfamethazine to help treat a variety of diseases like fin rot, tail rot, cotton mouth disease, body slime and eye cloud. It may even begin to help your fish within 48 hours. Just remove filter cartridge and add one packet for every 10 gallons.

Key Benefits
  • Uses a combination of 3 medications to help treat bacterial disease.
  • Typically will not harm your tank's biological filter or color tank water.
  • Helps to address bacterial issues that aren't caused by dirty tank water.
  • Recommended for use in both fresh and saltwater aquariums.
  • Just remove filter cartridge and add one packet for every 10 gallons.

For best results, remove activated carbon or filter cartridge from filter and continue aerations. For each 10 gallons (38 L) of water, empty one packet directly into aquarium. Repeat dose after 24 hours. Wait another 24 hours then change 25% of the aquarium water. Repeat this treatment for a second time, for a total of 4 doses. Then make a final 25% water change and add fresh activated carbon or replace filter cartridge. Treatment may be repeated if necessary.

Will API TRIPLE SULFA help swollen eyes and bacterial infections in turtles?

API TRIPLE SULFA is intended for fish only and will treat symptoms of bacterial infection, including fin & tail rot, cotton mouth disease, body slime, and eye cloud.

What is the proper dosage of API TRIPLE SULFA for a 5.5 gallon tank?

Follow instructions provided with API TRIPLE SULFA.

Does API TRIPLE SULFA affect water pH?

None of our medications affect the pH to any appreciable amount in the normal aquarium environment, as therapeutic levels of the medications are measured in ppm amounts (we are adding very little for the volume of water). That said, if a pH change does occur, that means that there is actually a different issue in the aquarium: that of low KH. Low KH in the aquarium will cause pH swings when any acidic or basic material (no matter how small) is added to the aquarium and is an inherently dangerous situation for the fish. If you are concerned with pH changes, make sure that your KH is above 40-50ppm (around 3 DKH). This will ensure that no pH swings occur.

Will API TRIPLE SULFA help swim bladder disease?

No, API TRIPLE SULFA is not intended to help swim bladder disease.

Should I remove my filtration media before dosing with API TRIPLE SULFA?

Products that are designed to remove things from your aquarium, such as filter media, will also remove dosed medication from your tank. For best results from medication, remove your filtration media as you dose.

    Sulfa for fin rot

    By on

Although I did not use this product yet (hence the four stars) it is supposed to be most effective against certain aerobic bacteria that causes fin rot among other diseases. The product was received timely and in good shape. I will use Chewy again.

    Fast Acting!

    By on

My betta was not good. His fins were feathering and rotting. He had a white cotton spot so I thought it was a fungal infection, but the natural PIMA product was not really helpin. His condition got worse. Suddenly, he became sluggish, his breathing labored and he wasn't eating. The site at which the fin wore away from the body was red and inflamed. After placing the order, the Triple Sulfa arrived the next day. After one course of medication I saw a 75% difference. Within 72 hrs of treatment, Gibbous ( my betta fish)was eating, actively swimming and the reddness had greatly diminished. Great product. It really works!

    Seems to work

    By on

I really like that it seems to work well on my large fantail goldfish and does not discolor the tank.
