    Sand looks beautiful, but...

Now 2018, I've moved to Surprise, Arizona with the same Jack Dempsey and several new cichlids in a 75gallon. I set up a new house using the white sand. I was flustrated for nearly 2 months because water just wouldn't clear always very cloudy. My water was good, clean fish all healthy. I was told be patient the sand takes several weeks to settle. Thank You Chewy my tank is now nice to admire and brag about. … more

I was shocked to see glitter in the sand when I opened it and thought maybe it was a fluke so I proceeded to wash the first bag repeatedly until water ran clear I’ve been using sand in my aquariums successfully for awhile now. I was shocked to see glitter in the sand when I opened it and thought maybe it was a fluke so I proceeded to wash the first bag repeatedly until water ran clear. I opened my 2nd bag and MORE glitter. Glitter doesn’t naturally occur in sand- obviously, and I’m not comfortable putting glitter in my aquarium. I just wouldn’t suggest this particular product. Stick with the CaribSea products in my opinion...they cycle well and look great and I’ve NEVER had to deal with anything unatural in them. I’ve never used sand for terrarium or reptariums so maybe it would work for them? … more
