This is a good distraction for grooming Reggie. He's not interested in it in the shower (yet), but he'll happily accept some cheese on the mat at any other time.
My two pups love this! Stays in place also. Definitely would Recommend. Also will be buying other. They dont share well.
I first put this on the wall just above the tub to distract my dog while I bathed him (which he doesn’t like very much) but he didn’t continue to lick it so I thought I had just wasted my money but when I put it down on the floor later, he licked up all of the peanut butter. I’m going to let him have some peanut butter on this occasionally until next bath time and then try it on the wall again.
Smeared with peanut butter, this is the perfect distraction for ear cleaning and bath time. The suction cups only really work on a completely smooth surface, like the bathtub. We use an old mascara brush to clean the grooves when she’s done.
This has completely changed the traumatic experience that was bath time into a treat fest! My dog (small terrier) used to sound like I was murdering him: constant torturous whining and guttural yelps not to mention the look of utter betrayal. I seriously worried the neighbors were going to call the police, and I'd have to explain that I'd merely poured warm water on him and sudsed him up lol. I'd tried handing him treats and lots of pets, but nothing worked. It was just awful. After getting this and adding peanut butter to it before bath time, HE WALKED HIMSELF into the shower and started licking the mat. HE DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE HE WAS GETTING A BATH! Toward the end he was like, "Oh, I guess I'm wet," but he had not MADE A PEEP. And he has to have the medicated shampoo on his skin for 10 MINUTES. I got the square one bc I wanted more surface area for him to be distracted, but I'm sure the triangle shape works the same. Total game-changer. WHAT A RELIEF FOR US BOTH! Good luck with bathing your pooches!
Kudos to whoever thought of this! Easier and less messy than filling a Kong. Can be used on the floor or stuck to your fridge or dishwasher for dogs that are more comfortable in that position. My Big guy loves to lie down with his front legs around it while he enjoys his peanut butter! I haven't tried to freeze anything on it yet but I do think that would keep him occupied and out from under foot for a longer period of time. Great for when company comes to visit!
The suction on this is less than favorable. My girlfriend and I give our puppy a bath together and she had to hold this item to the wall while I gave him the bath. It kept falling into the water and would only stick to the wall for a few seconds when she wasn’t holding it against the wall. The only reason I give it two stars is because it kept my puppies attention throughout the bath. Needs better suction.
This is an absolute game change to bath time! Rosie used to be terrified of baths. She would try to jump out and bath time was just a nightmare, so I avoided them at all costs, unless a bath was desperately necessary (like when she rolled in fox poop). But now she gets in on her own and doesn’t put up any sort of fight! I will say, it didn’t work immediately - I eased her in. The first time I tried, it didn’t help at all. So I started letting her lick peanut butter from it multiple times before I actually used it in the bath. Then when using it for the bath, I let her lick for a minute or two before moving it to the tub. Then I move it to the tub and let her lick for a minute before actually turning on the water. I’ve had it for over a year and it’s in just as good condition (and the auctions work just as well) as when I got it! It has also made nail clippings a lot easier as well!
We have tried other types of lickimats and this one tests the time of a destructive little dachshund. She has been able to rip off the little nubs of other silicone lickimats, but not this one. She tries, and not one nub has been removed; not one hole has been made. Super easy to clean. It would be great if this lickimat was a little larger, but I am not complaining. Just ordered a second one for my second dachshund.
While I really like this concept. I dont know if I would buy another one. It doesn’t suction cup well to any surface. I even tried wetting it before. It stuck for all of 1min probably and then fell off. Now my dog is frightened of it and she will only lick it off the floor now. Which is fine since it doesn’t stick anyways. But I was really hoping to use this while I shower her because she has such bad anxiety I thought it’d help calm her. Obviously the material or something is not good for suctioning and that won’t be happening. :( kinda dissatisfied and disappointed. I guess it’s still good slow enrichment for her to lick out of it off floor so I’m totally mad but still.
