    So So Simple

I could never get the hang of that & had to ask friends to get it going for me. Now there is no work at all. I just wait for my container on the floor to fill. Once filled, I stop the water flow and empty the bucket and return to the tank to fill another five gallons. So simple. … more

NOT what it used to be

    By spends2much on Feb 25, 2020

Cannot recommend this. Truthfully zero stars. It failed to work mid-way through siphoning from my largest tank the VERY FIRST TIME I used it. I had the very same brand siphon for at least 8-10+ years. Recently the tubing was getting stiff and hard due to age. I saw this one and thought it was the same Cannot recommend this. Truthfully zero stars. It failed to work mid-way through siphoning from my largest tank the VERY FIRST TIME I used it. I had the very same brand siphon for at least 8-10+ years. Recently the tubing was getting stiff and hard due to age. I saw this one and thought it was the same. It is not. It now comes with a pieced-together plastic bulb instead of the solid, one-piece rubber one that came with my old one... that had served me well for so long. No amount of tightening the connections worked.....it just wouldn't suction. I believe the poorly designed, pieced-together plastic bulb is the flaw. I do NOT recommend this model. Doesn't make sense that they changed it....why mess with a good thing?? … more

    Siphon cleaner

    By on

Well there’s no directions on package of which package is just a piece of laminated plastic. Initially I could prime to siphon water from tank, past primer then into bucket but the flow wasn’t maintaining. I took apart shot hose water through primer made sure all hoses were installed securely and tried again. Worked very well water volume very good thru primer bubble. Cleaned out very well afterwards.

    Too big for my tank

    By on

It works really well but it's too big for my tank and with that size, it is little hard to use.

    Just pumping

    By on

This siphon was easy to use and seems to clean well. For my 10 gallon tank it pumped too fast. I need a smaller pump to give me time to get the tank clean. Would recommend for a much larger tank.

    Great vacuum, not enough power

    By on

I recently purchased this gravel vacuum for my tanks. Ive never used one before and was very excited when it came in the mail. It came with instructions that were easy to understand and it was put together with ease. After a few squeezes of the priming bulb, water began to flow. My only complaint would be the suction. In some areas I had to keep the vacuum in one place so it would actually suck out the "gunk" in the sand. However, my sand was super clean afterwards. I think the more I get used to using it, the better it will be. It definitely helps clean with a breeze.

    Cumbersome

    By on

This is definitely a step up from the "old" water change procedure. However, I did not factor in the length of the pipe from the bottom of the tank to the catch basin. In order for suction to work properly, one must account for the "slack" in the pipe. My first attempt was not good so will need to cut the length of the pipe. Still a good product!

    Good price/performance ratio

    By on

I bought this to facilitate 20% weekly water changes to help control water hardness. It does pretty good for that purpose, although it has a very long and somewhat unwieldy hose length & I get my wife to help me to avoid making a mess. It also says that one can vacuum the pebbles etc., but I find the suction to be far too anemic for that purpose. It does what I got it for, for 12 bucks. Done!
