I bought two of these and one the temp swings terrible and isn't near what the dial is set to. I replaced it today with another brand from PetSmart and it's the first time since I started the aquarium that my Apex Controller isn't being used as a thermostat. I pulled the bad heater out and replaced it. I am currently using it temporary when I make new water where it can't kill the fish if it runs a little hotter. I have it protected to turn off if it doesn't on it's own.
temperature control is completely off

The product arrived with the little blue knob that controls temperature fallen off. I put it on in what felt like the only way it _would_ go on. Luckily rather than put it in the turtle's tank directly, I decided to use it to heat a bucket of replacement water. I set the knob to 78, left the heater submerged horizontally in the bottom of the bucket, and when I came back a couple hours later **the temperature was almost 90 degrees**. I will not put this in my turtle's tank and I recommend that anyone purchasing this test the temperature settings in a separate tank or bucket before using it in your pet's environment. Also, the numbers indicating the (supposed) temperature settings are really hard to read, particularly when the top of the unit is wet… more

I had a previous heater that never got my water above 73 degrees F even though it claimed to be preset to 78. This item was only a few dollars more but ended up being astronomically better! It had the water heated up to a tropical 80 before I came home from work that night! In love w/ another in cart for another tank!
Finally, a heater that works!

I've had this 100 watt Aqueon heater for about a year now, and it works great! I've used this heater in tanks as small as 12 gallons to tanks as big as 40 gallons, and it still holds up! I usually have it set to 78°F, so this heater sure does have to work hard, however if it's been working for a year, then it must be a good heater!

I have 3 aqueon heaters and have replaced 2 within six months. The blue adjustment knob falls off and the calibration process is tedious and nearly impossible. Save yourself the anger and just buy AquaTop.
impressive well built tank heater

We are experiencing cold weather in Florida.(Cold by our standards!) I have a small pond of 55 gallons. This heater did a fine job regulating the heat for the pond. I'm quite pleased and so are the fish.
I need a new one sent!

I purchased two 300w units for my startup 65 gal tank. One as main, one for water replacement. Within a week the main did not function properly and water was 3 to 4 degrees higher than the setting. I replaced with backup and, same problem. Thank goodness I purchased from Chewy who promptly credited my account for both. Chewy gets a 10 Aqueon 0!
Not what I expected

I recently set up my new 10 gallon aquarium with the 50 watt heater. When I purchased this product I was under the understanding that i would be able to set the aquarium temperature to 70 degrees. This however is not the case, I am finding out that even at the lowest setting on the heater the lowest temperature my tank can go down to is 80 degrees without just being at room temperature. I will be looking to replace this heater
I'm 50/50 right now on the 150watt

Going to talk to chewy about it.. bought 2 150s for my 125g, one makings a rather persistent popping sound like wood creaking.. they heat the water fine but I had to unplug that one.. this is why you divide your heaters :)
