For first time brushers, put a small amount of toothpaste on your finger and invite the cat to lick it off. Slowly progress to rubbing your finger along the gum line and teeth. Then, put a small amount of toothpaste on the toothbrush and repeat. Always make this a positive experience for your cat. For best results, brush 2-3 times per week.

My Kitten Disapproved!!
By Olga on Sep 15, 2020
I got a dog toothpaste so I decided to get one for my kitten too. My kitten was curious as to what was on my finger, she smelled it and ran! I then put it on her lips since it could've been the smell she was uninterested in and maybe she would like the taste instead. She didn't even like the taste! Every time she smells it, she runs!! she liked the smell of the dog's tooth paste which is bacon flavored. My dogs smelled it and they didn't like it either (and they eat everything).

Toothbrush not practical and Toothpaste hated!
By AWMom on Jul 15, 2020
The toothbrush was very awkward to try to use for either of my cats (6mo old). I think if it had a shorter handle or a different angle it may be easier to use. We also tried this toothpaste on our fingers, on a finger brush, and on the included toothbrush and both cats HATED it! As soon as they smelled it they wouldn't get near it, ran from us, and when forcing it on one of them, she repeatedly licked/washed her face/gagged. We'll be trying a different teeth cleaning product and write this off as a waste.

Kitten gagged at the taste
By rizzle on Jun 28, 2020
My kitten finds this disgusting. I couldn’t get her to try it while she was awake, so I attempted to rub it on her teeth while she was sleeping. She woke up, gagged, and wouldn’t stop smacking her mouth. Wound up giving her treats because I felt bad lol. She hasnt been picky with anything else I’ve bought for her consumption. I smelled it myself before giving it to her, and it’s WACK. It is not a pleasant smell, and not even meaty, which is what I was expecting.

Kitten hates the smell
By Katherine on Jul 1, 2020
This is flavored tuna but has a strong minty smell to it. We tried it with my kitten when he was 8-10 weeks old and he hated it..he's on his way to being 3.5 months and he still hates it. Closes his eyes and makes a funny face when we try to bring the toothpaste near him. He doesn't mind the toothbrush though. I might try a different brand toothpaste.

My cats hate the taste
By Gaby on May 30, 2020
The toothbrush and cover was nice, but neither of my girls were willing to let the toothpaste near their mouth :( I’ve tried other cat toothpastes since then and have not had the same issue

Bristles are a little stiff, kittens are scared of the toothpaste, lol.
By Andi on Dec 15, 2019
I don't know if our cat is just weird or not, but she and her 9 week old kittens didn't really like the toothpaste very much (maybe it is the mint?). Also, the bristles of the toothbrush are stiffer than I expected, but the toothbrush isn't marketed as being "soft" so it isn't a big issue. I'll probably get a softer toothbrush sometime in the future so the cat isn't so scared of teeth brushing (it was her first time). Maybe she'll like the toothpaste more if it is mixed with a little wet food gravy. I'll have to give it a try.

Great if they will let you brush
By Thepurrfectlife on Feb 9, 2020 top500Contributor
I regularly brush my dogs teeth so it was only natural for me to purchase this kitten kit for my kitten....we are working on getting her use to brushing, but not as easy as brushing dogs teeth!

The Kittens were repulsed by the smell and flavor of the paste. Returned for refund. Still waiting to see the $ though

Rough Toothbrush
By Rachel on Nov 21, 2019
I highly recommended buying a soft baby toothbrush to go with the toothpaste because this brush was so rough it made one of my cat's bleed.
