This is an affordable fabric or soft-sided kennel that must be zipped to the tip to hold its shape, but if used inside or as a lightweight carrier for short drive to vet, works fine. Had one years ago with washable canvas-type fabric and tubular steel frame and at today's prices these were over $100 if memory serves. So went with this much more affordable option and using as the dog's 'safe place' in one of the rooms in the home.
I have 4 cats and typically put 2 in a carrier when going anywhere for obvious reasons. The bag is not too bulky and light while remaining sturdy and structurally sound. I didn't notice that there's no top zipper for grabbing our kitties but the options is compensated with the side zipper well.
This looks great but not practical for traveling in the car. No side belts for for seat belt to enter and secure your pet! And the storage pockets for the leash, poop bags etc. is on the bottom of the expandable mesh which means you must remove prior to your destination. Not practical, should be on an end. This carrier is definitely suited better for cats.
For the discounted price, it's well worth it. Love the design and color, it is a pretty big carrier. My cat loves it and she stayed in it the whole afternoon. The only downside is that the base is indeed a little too soft, it is holding my 12lbs cat well for now but I am quite certain that some time in the future it will fold.
Cat (the less smart of the two!) was able to get out of this, twice. Some how able to unzip it while on the highway. He was also scratching at the mesh, which looks pretty ripped up all ready, after two, 1-hour drives.
so the construction is great for what the photo is doing - sitting, open, so the cats can get in and out and look around but feel protected. probably fine on a plane too. i leave it in my living room so they can hang out in it. when carrying them though, the bottom is not stable, it bends quite a bit - my kittens are 10 lbs together, and since it's bendy it smooshes them together when i'm carrying them with the strap on my shoulder and then they bang into my leg. FINE for car to vet short walks, but rough for anything longer. could prolly carry it in front of you with hands under supporting it. but. not for like, a long haul through an airport (unless you get a cart thingy).
The quality is perfect, as well as fastest delivery.
Bad zipper. Cat escaped. Nightmare. Going back to hard-sided carrier with a gate
I liked this for its flat storage and ample inner space for my cat, but the bottom was not thick or hard enough, so when I walked with it using the shoulder strap, my poor kitty sunk down in the middle. Other than this, I would buy another.
My cats hate their carriers and going into them. I purchased this one to see if having a flexible sided one might be easier for all of us. Both cats love taking turns in this one, sleeping in it and sometimes hiding from each other. Very lightweight and easy to carry with the top handle and longer strap.
