Great pan for sifting pine pellets!

    By on

Love this box for sifting pine pellets however it is on the smaller side and my cat needs a larger pan (at least 22 inches). So I put the pine pellets in a regular large size pan and when I need to sift out the sawdust I just pour it all into the smaller Simply Sift Litter box and shake away. Then I pour the remaining sifted pellets back into the larger cat pan. I have had no issues with the trays being hard to separate. I could not find a sifting pan where the pellets didn't fall through the holes until I saw this one. I gave it 4 stars only because of it's smaller size. Wish they would make a larger version.

    Bad Design

    By on

The sifter layer has short legs so that there is space between the sifter and the solid pan. The result as I have observed is that urine will soak through the litter and 'clump' the liter onto the bottom of the sifter. That has to be manually cleaned from the bottom of the sifter. Basically this feature defeats the entire purpose of a sifting system.

Purrrfect to use with Pine Pellets

    By on

Remove poop daily. When cat pees the pellets become sawdust. Sift sawdust falls through holes. I change when full or when cleaning; Can go 2 weeks for 1 cat, but I do own 2 of these awesome boxes. Pros: quick & easy to empty; No messy clean up. Cons: Bottom tray is REALLY hard to remove, so I leave it separated. Also, trays are short so if you have a cat that kicks then pine pellets end up around box. I have to vacuum every couple days. Picture below doesn’t show that because I vacuumed yesterday. NOTE: Pine Pellets are best litter for 2 major reasons. 1- Doesn’t smell bad except right after George poops. 2- Sooo much cheaper than normal kitty litter when purchased at a tractor store Remove poop daily. Almost Purrfect for Pellets

    By on

At 1st my fur babies & I really loved this litter box. I ordered a few of them at separate times so I got one with handles & no peg legs & the next time one with No handles but with peg legs, the one with the peg legs is great for pellets but like I said they don't have the handles on this one which makes is so hard to separate them when it comes time to clean. I ended up gluing large popsicle sticks under the rim to help keep them from sticking together works better now also the holes could be a litter larger for faster sifting. Other than that it's a good litter box I like it & Chewy is so awesome they have the best customer service!!

    Perfect for Pellets

    By on

FYI: I purchased 2 of the "Simply Sift" boxes, I have 2 cats, and I use pellet cat litter. How I Use It: I stir around the pellets and scoop out the poop daily. The stirring helps the sawdust falls through, but sometimes I have to tap the bottom if I notice some of the holes look clogged. I discard the sawdust once a week. Pro: With other litter boxes it's difficult to separate the sawdust from unused pellets. To keep a handle on it, I had to be very conservative with the amount of pellets I used. My cats would prefer a thicker layer of pellets and with "Simply Sift" boxes I'm able to do that without an issue. These litter boxes also make the whole cleaning process much faster. Not what I thought

    By on

So this seemed like a good idea. Two problems. One it's really hard to pull the two bottom boxes apart and two the filter layer doesn't sit on the bottom of the liter. I use twice as much to keep it at a level the cats can use. Also, due to the gap when the cats pee it's going under the scoop layer and I have to scoop anyway.

    THE pellet box

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

This box design is perfect for pine pellets. The sifting tray goes on top with the pellets and the saw dust falls through the holes to the tray below. The pegs on the sifting tray keep it elevated which is why this works better than other sifting boxes I've tried. I stir/shake the box when I scoop it to help facilitate the sifting of the saw dust. The main drawbacks are that the box is on the small side, and the solid trays are hard to separate. I just store the third tray until I need it. I transfer the sifting tray to the clean box and discard the saw dust from the other one.

    Pine litter pellets...

    By on

Works well with my pine pellets. The holes are small enough to keep the whole pellets and big enough to "shake away" the pine dust. Buying a second one!
