Puppies: Start allowing puppies access to Grain Free AvoDerm® Red Meat Meal & Potato Formula about 3 weeks before weaning, the food can be moistened to help consumption. After weaning feed the puppy 3 - 4 times per day for the first 2 months, and then from 2 - 3 times per day until reaching Adult size, and then 1 - 2 times per day. Expect to feed 1 1/2 - 2 times the Adult feeding recommendation during the puppy's growing phase, adjust the daily amount fed so the puppy maintains a good body condition.

Pregnant Females: During pregnancy increase the feeding amount during the last 1/3 of pregnancy to 1 1/2 times the amount recommended as shown for the Adult. Avoid excessive overfeeding, maintaining a good body condition, while preparing for whelp and nursing.

Lactating Females: A nursing female can expect to need 2 - 3 times as much food as recommended in the Adult feeding guideline. Adjust the extra food given by the number of puppies and length of nursing. Try to maintain a good body condition, however with large numbers of puppies expect to have some loss in body fat for milk production.

  • She got tired of lamb

    By on

Older toy poodle has food allergies so she needs grain, duck, turkey, and fish free food. Really hard to fine cuz a lot of brands use salmon oil for omega 3. She was on the lamb food but stopped eating it unless it was mixed with something - I used mash potatoes. Got this new chicken recipe and shes back to eating just kibble again

  • Red Meat Meal & Potato Formula

    By on

My dog really liked the red meat & potato formula he has no problem eating this food. I originally purchased the trout formula but he turned his nose up at it and wouldn't eat it. Chewy was really good at letting me exchange the dog food which I thought was awesome. Thanks, Chewy!

  • So far so good...

    By on

I recently switched my 1 year old, 80+ lb. pup to AvoDerm. I became concerned with his previous food when my pup began vomiting his entire meal within an hour of eating and began losing his hair. I googled everything and read just about every site to see if something had changed with his original food but couldn't confirm 100%. I just decided to play it safe and get him on something different. He has not vomited his meal since and his hair has stopped falling out. I can't say without any doubt that his previous food was the cause, but I can say with 100% certainty that this food has not had the same effect!

  • Seems okay

    By on

My dog has been having gas since we switched to this food and he has yet to empty his bowl. He does eat it, he just doesn't seem to love it. To be fair, any time you switch food I know there can be gas and/or loose stool. It has been a couple weeks and the gas remains, so it may simply not agree with my dog in particular.
