Azithromycin (Generic) Flavored for Oral Suspension

This is an antibiotic that is used in the treatment of certain skin, respiratory, and other susceptible infections in small animals. It is a powder that is reconstituted and administered as a liquid.

Give all medication orally. Shake the bottle well before giving each dose. Azithromycin can be given on an empty stomach but always give this medication exactly according to your veterinarians prescribe instructions. Always complete all doses that have been prescribed unless otherwise directed or infection may recur or worsen. Azithromycin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by halting the protein production of susceptible bacteria which causes it to stop growing and reproducing. If bacteria cannot grow or reproduce, it will eventually die and the infection will resolve with some assistance from the body's immune system.

The bloodstream will carry Azithromycin from the GI tract to infected tissues. It will stop the growth and reproduction of susceptible bacteria so your pet's infection will resolve. Your pet's symptoms should improve. It can take several doses before improvement is observed. If your pet seems worse or his/her symptoms are not resolving after all medication is completed, call your veterinarian.
