This is by far the most effective comb for matts. It has a double row of teeth. Love this comb.
This comb is for larger pets only. I bought it for my cats, looking for a handled comb similar to the one I currently have. I think they would be afraid of this and can only imagine it is designed for large dogs with long hair. It is very substantial and heavy, well made. I have to return it.
This comb is an excellent choice for regular coat maintenance. It removes smaller tufts and the rounded tines don't dig into the coat unless you use a high degree of angle. Extremely well built and easy to clean once done. Will seriously last a lifetime. Purring approved while combing. A tad heavy but once you get the hang of it not a problem.
The comb is beautiful, but my pups weigh 7 ponds. It is tooooo large for them. I wish I had known this before I ordered it.
I have a Persian cat that you comb in about 3 layers starting closest to her skin and working out. She does not like to be groomed. She doesn't mat badly overall but certain times of the year we have issues. I have been using a store bought pet comb and was looking for something that made things easier. Although the price was way more then I had intended to spend, I splurged in hope's of good things. The comb is sturdy/weighted..heavier then store bought but not uncomfortable to hold. The comb is all metal. It is pretty good size; a good size for an adult cat. I would not use it on a cat with short or med hair-unless very, very thick. The tips are rounded but still could be pokey if not carefully used. The double prongs did help pick up loose hair from the undercoat and ran smoothly through the hair. It did seem to get most mats out easier but you still have to work them through. My cat still hated being combed but it didn't seem to take as long. I would say it is a good, heavier/weighted comb. I do think the price is a bit high but I would recommend it for an animal that had a lot of thick hair.
When I received the comb to replace my old detangler comb with its missing teeth I was frightened by its size...it is huge. However it works incredibly well. Broke up and gently pulled out several mats of different sizes from my really fluffy cat. He's mat free now and isn't even frightened when he sees me coming with the comb. The two rows have staggered teeth that work fantastically. Wish I had this comb years ago.
