4-stars because the sizing guide on chewy is wrong
I sized the muzzles for my dogs so that the length will be 1/2-inch clear from the end of the nose, and the circumference will be 1 to 3 inches larger than the "snout circumference". At length of 3.5, and circumference of 12 and 11 respectively, according to the chewy chart both dogs were going to nicely fit in a 6 with plenty of room for panting. Holy smokes was that wrong! The 6 can practically fit their whole head. For the size 6 the sizing guide on chewy is under by an inch for length, and half an inch over for circumference. I'm ordering a smaller size for the dogs now. Chewy was as always FANTASTIC about returns and super understanding.
Does not work on small muzzle dogs with big necks
Before we had even gotten him used to it, Cole chewed a chunk out of the top of the muzzle. It could still be used. We got him used to putting it on, treats were given. However, the loop that is supposed to attach to his collar is too small for the width of his collar. I have looked for a longer collar that is smaller in width but there is nothing available. We now have a muzzle and a collar that can not be used. Very frustrated!
Didn't Work
The little loop up front that the dog collar can be stringed through was a great idea. However, it only took moments for our dog to pull it off by pulling it forward and over his head. If there was a way to connect the back strap to the collar as well, this might have held. Unfortunately, this muzzle design failed to fulfill its purpose.
works good
Got a size 4 for my 65lb mutt (pit/lab/shepard) and fits well. It was very hard when it came so I tried boiling it and it maybe slightly helped. My dog doesn't seem to mind it for walks, like that you can take the middle part attachment off. He can still pant and take treats from it too.
Fits well and will do the job!
I purchased this for use when going to the vet - my dog is extremely anxious, and while he hasn't bitten anyone, I thought it might help his doctor if a muzzle was an available option. I've been working on training using high value treats, and from what I can tell, this fits well enough for what I plan to use it for. I knocked one star off because I purchased the brown version due to the photo having a metal clasp at the top instead of the plastic connector seen on the black version. I liked the thought of being able to secure that part separately. Unfortunately, the muzzle I received did not have the metal clasp. It's obviously still useable, but something to keep in mind if you're picking the color based on the photo.
Same name - 2 different constructions
I ordered 2 small Baskerville Ultra muzzles, one of each color. They are not of the same construction. The tan one has a buckle and the top strap has a metal clasp. The black one is the same as pictured, no metal parts.
Works well
Bought sizes 2 and 3, but prefer the 3 for the length of my dog's nose. It works well, but I do wish there was a way to fasten the top side to the collar because it occasionally slips over her ears.
Self-Protection
'Excellent quality product that keeps me from getting into trouble at the Vet's. It can be fitted to the muzzle, stylish, and it does not fall off. I ordered mock-ups to this product and it was a failed produce.
Does not stay on
My dog was able to get this off within a minute. It is a size 5 for a medium sized German Shepard and it was the right fit, however, no matter how many times I tightened it, she was able to use her paws to slip it right off. Very disappointed.
recommended by a cannine police officer
This muzzle was recommended to me by a police officer on the canine unit. This muzzle was hard to figur out how to put on. I watched videos on youtube by Baskerville. The said to clip it or attach it to coller via a loop at the bottom of the muzzle. This had my German Shepherd pulling off the muzzle in less than 10 seconds. I tried twisitng the straps around the collar. This seemed to help a little but seemed like it too would have my dog out in seconds if he was left unattended. I never could figure out how to secure this so my dog couldn't pull it off. I even emailed Baskerville to ask how to secure this on my dog. I bought size 5 for my german shepherd. All the straps were pulled as tight as they would go and the muzzle was virutally right up to the nose and it still felt flimsy and to easy to pull off.
