About This Item

Benazepril HCI is a prescription medication used to treat heart failure, high blood pressure and some forms of kidney disease. It helps by blocking a natural enzyme called angiotensin, which is normally part of a reaction in the body that causes the blood vessels to narrow. When medication blocks this enzyme, it allows blood vessels to relax and dilate, which may lower blood pressure. Customers may receive this uncoated tablet under the names Fortekor, Lotensin.

Proudly sourced directly from the manufacturer or their approved distributor. Guaranteed genuine and backed by the manufacturer.

Miss the smaller pills for my cat

I agree with several other users. These are harder to get down for a cat. I really wish Chewy could carry both sizes. It seems like they chose to cater to those needing to cut the pill complaining it is too small. I was getting larger pills from my pharmacy and glad when I ordered from Chewy and they were so small, so much for that now. Please find a way to offer both.

I prefer the smaller tablets

Trying to give pets medicine should be an Olympic sport. We’ve tried pill pockets, crushing the pill into food, and force feeding pills. For whatever reason, my cat hates pill pockets so the only way she’ll take her meds is with a scoop of her brothers food. She often spits the pill back out or refusing the food the pill is crushed in, especially since the change in tablet size. However the pill does help my cat get her appetite back and i see a difference when she hasn’t taken it (or eaten it all in her food). It works, but it takes a lot to actually get my cat to ingest it.

Pills are TINY

My dog is tiny so her dose is tiny, she gets 1/4 of a pill. When I was getting the pills from my vet they were large enough to split into quarters. These pills are so small i have a hard time even cutting them in half for my other dog. I wish I knew ow small they were going to be, I wpuldve just stuck with the 20 minute drive to my vet..

Excellent Quality

This medication does what it's supposed to do. My dog's health has improved and it's much less expensive than getting it from the vet or a local pharmacy. Not sure why everyone is in such a flap about pill size. You don't get a choice on pill size for human-use medications. It is what it is.

Do not buy these if you have to split them

If you have to cut these for your pet, DO NOT buy these. Chewy cannot and will not guarantee tablet size/manufacturer. I explained that the super tiny tablets cannot be split, but they will not correct the situation.

I Found a Way to Cut These Little Pills!

I do agree that these Benazepril HCI tablets are way too tiny and I prefer a larger size, but I did manage to cut them in half easily and I want to share how. Do not use a regular pill cutter because it just shatters them into pieces and they're unusable. I found that if I use pet nail trimmers, the kind with the sliding blade, I can position the pill right in the middle and the blade will cut it in half. It's not always perfect but there's a lot less waste than the other method I tried. Hope that helps.

Wish they were smaller

I had been buying these because they were little for my cat with kidney disease. Now they’re 5x as big and my cat struggles to take them. Chewy said it’s a manufacturer thing .

Too TINY to cut

The pills are impossibly small to quarter. We have a small 7 lb pomeranian and she needs a 5mg pill quartered. These are so tiny that they turn to dust when cut. Chewy, please fix this!

Waaaaay to small to split

We have to split these into quarters and it’s impossible! We have a 10 year old chihuahua with a grade 5/6 heart murmur and it’s imperative she get her meds. I’m going to have to go back to the vet to get her meds now, I’m so disappointed!

So small it's useless

As others have mentioned the pills are so small they are now useless. I even bought a nice new pill cutter to try and cut them and still about 50% of the time it crumbles or cuts so uneven that half the pill is unusable. Waste of money. If there was at least a cut line it would help.
