Benebones should be enjoyed but not eaten. While very durable, Benebones are not a fit for very aggressive chewers who could damage the product or damage their teeth. Every dog plays differently and, since not all toys are created equal, it’s always best to keep a close watch on your pup in case things get ruff. Supervised play will help toys last longer and most importantly keep your pal safe. No dog toy is truly indestructible, so always remove the toy from playtime if pieces begin to break off.
Nylon and Real Chicken
Keep an eye out for wear and tear. Within a month or so, most dogs chew Benebone into submission. Rice-sized flakes are OK, but if it looks like larger chunks are about to come off, it’s time to replace.
Size | Suggested Pet Size | Length x Width (inches) | Weight (ounces) |
---|---|---|---|
Small | Under 30 lbs | 5.3in x 3.8in | 3.6oz |
Medium | Under 60 lbs | 7.0in x 4.8in | 6.3oz |
Large | Under 90 lbs | 8.3in x 5.5in | 9.6oz |
Always choose the largest product your dog can handle, even if you have a dog rated for the smaller size.
Benebones are made with USA-sourced nylon and flavored with USA-sourced real ingredients – real peanuts, white meat chicken, bacon or maple wood. That’s it! Benebone likes to keep it simple.
Since it’s a durable nylon chew, Benebones are pretty hard and durable. You can’t make an indent on the product with your fingernail, however hard you try. So be sure your pup has strong, healthy teeth and can handle harder chews such as antlers and real bones.
If pieces the size of rice or smaller fall off the Benebone, these generally do not cause a problem. If the product has lost more than a sugar cube’s worth of volume, it’s time to replace.
Benebones are durable chews designed to last a few weeks or more. We recommend replacing monthly, or sooner if wear indicates.
Weight is only a rough guide. It cannot replace sound judgment based on a dog’s size, chew strength, and tooth strength. When in doubt, choose the larger size.
Can puppies enjoy Benebones too?
Puppies can enjoy Benebone’s Puppy line, which are a tad softer for teething puppies.
Is the Maplestick as durable as other Benebones?
The Maplestick contains a good amount of maple wood fiber mixed in with the nylon. It is durable, but wears a bit faster than the rest of the Benebone line.
Benebone products are made in a factory where nuts and other flavors are used. Unfortunately, keep Benebone products away from households with an allergy.
Dogs who like to chew will love this hard plastic bone. Its' super hard but your hard chewer will make headway. Then just throw it out when the ends get all chewed up and rough. Don't let them cut their gums on the rough ends, just buy a new one.
My seven year old loves these straight out of the dishwasher. My nine year old prefers them soaked in bone broth. They both love the design and have zero difficulty holding on to. I love that the wishbone design doesn't have the possibility of getting stuck on my dogs jaw. They like the other two flavors, but this is the hands-down favorite.

My two German Shepherd love these - they are a favorite. I HAVE noticed they have gradually been able to chew down the "handle" so now it is just U- shaped, but it happened gradually, not in a big chunk.
Description: "Delivers a wag-worthy flavor from real chicken that's fused all the way through the chew." Smell of chicken is also mentioned. It doesn't smell like chicken, it doesn't taste like chicken (yes,I tried!) It's just a hard overpriced nylon. My dog isn't interested. I wouldn't recomend buying it.
Those bones are freaking dangerous. Second time my dog almost choked on it. Last time, he almost choked on it, he was swallowing funny for the next 2 days.
We've had benebones in the past and wanted to get these to gift to my family member. Dogs seem to love it, still not sure exactly how they infuse the flavors yet it's not edible... but the dogs enjoy it and we haven't had any stomach problems are pieces breaking off!
Not only are these bones made in the USA but they last forever! My dog can really chew through toys fast but these bones last her a long time. We feel confident buying these bones for her and will continue to for years to come!
So happy to find these bones with Chewy. Every night Xyla chews on one and it is like a pacifier and puts her to sleep.
My dogs love it. They seem to prefer the beef flavored one better, but the chicken is still good by them. It is easy for them to grab on all three knobs, and they have been known to both have one knob in their mouth -"sharing" it. Good exercise and keeps them busy and or of mischief.
