I like my indoor-only cats to have daily enrichment, especially at mealtimes when it will slow their eating down (especially the youngest). However, this bowl is unfortunately not worth it. I bought it almost a year ago and have tried to make it work. It just doesn't, the levels don't latch together properly and it's a fairly flimsy design. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend purchasing this.
We have had this interactive feeder puzzle for about a week now, and it's honestly great. Some of the feeders can be too easy, or have a large footprint and take up too much space. I love that this one has a ton of levels. We started out with just the base and the one flat piece to encourage them to use their paws. Once they figured it out, we just added another level. Loving it so far! Only downside is it's a little tricky to get the pieces together, you have to line up the slots perfectly, and it's a tight fit. Being plastic, I could see those locking mechanisms potentially getting damaged if there's too much force used.
I am not sure what cats are successful with this type of feeding, but my cats are not doing well with it. I was hoping to give my indoor cats more enrichment and see if they would use this bowl as a toy/food bowl. As a food bowl, they ate from it fine, and then I added 1 layer of difficultly and now they just lie or sit next to the bowl and cry. I even filled it to the top so they could get to the food easier with their paw and they just stare at me as though their bowl is broken. I am not sure if the bowl doesn't work or my cats don't want to work for their food.
The base doesn't actually lock into the rest of the levels and my cat easily pulls this apart. Don't bother.
