Grass won't grow
I've grown cat grass a lot in the past, and thought this would be great to try in the scratcher, but it just wouldn't sprout. After weeks of tending to it, I only had 3 blades of grass. I took the seeds and vermiculite and put it in dirt in a deeper pot and that did work. I don't know if it is the potting medium they provide or the short depth of this container, but I didn't have luck with it.
Cats Love this
Grass grew so fast! My cat loves grass so this is perfect to keep around. I water it once every couple of days and leave it in the sun in the mornings and let him snack throughout the day
DISAPPOINTED
followed directions - got very sparse grass from seeds - will buy already bloomed from nursery in future.

I don't know why others have said they had problems with this item. We've bought 2. One to grow while the other is being eaten! Our girls love it and we didn't have any trouble at all growing. Used the included vermiculite the first time but used miracle grow soil after that and it still works great!
Great concept, risky buy
The idea of the grass kit is perfect. However, it is hit or miss on growth. I soaked seeds according to directions (not even sure this part is totally necessary), and every step afterward. There was little to no growth. I transported the seed mixture into a disposable cake pan with a lid and let it set in direct sun. It finally started to grow but at that point it was too tall to try and move it back to the disk. And it wasn't rooted firmly enough in the pan to keep the cats from pulling it out roots and all. So, I'm guessing that maybe once you prepare the mixture and place it in the disk, cover it with saran wrap and let it set in the sun and water as directed. Once you start to notice growth remove covering. I will probably purchase another one to see if these changes to the directions make any difference.
Nothing Growing
Very disappointing. I grow my own cat grass, but this seemed simple and would fit in my cats favorite toy. It has been a week and nothing has sprouted. I followed the directions exactly.
extremely disappointed
Followed directions to the letter and not one seed grew!! Beyond disappointed and a complete waste of money!!!
No grass...
I have purchased many different types of cat grass products and this one is the worst I've used. I had no growth with first attempt so I refilled with my own potting soil and wheat grass and have a little growth (about 10 blades). Using cheap, plastic tub works far better than this product.
cat likes it
Not sure what I was thinking, but I ordered it thinking it was catnip haha. Nonetheless, I followed the directions and the grass is growing and my cat likes chewing on it ! I will see if I can update if my review changes. Also, I had this ball spinner for a while that I also purchased here on chewy. My kids broke the inside so it comes out now , and this grass insert fits perfectly.
Won't Grow and I have a Green Thumb
This looks like a really good thing for my two cats. I followed the simple directions and not one of the wheat seeds germinated.
