My German shepherd has struggled with very soft and loose stool since we brought him home (9 months now), especially during/after heavy activity. Been to the vet, stool tested, everything is fine. His vet said he probably is just one of those dogs that needs a little extra fiber in their diet. Friend of mine said her shepherd was similar as a puppy and he eventually grew out of it. Had been shopping around for fiber supplements as just canned pumpkin didn't seem to cut it. Also wanted something that was cost effective. Tried this product and it certainly works to give form to his poops, but even during times where I know it would typically be soft, it was still extremely soft just in the shape of poop, but gelatinous. I was hoping it would help to bulk up his stool, but it didn't really accomplish that for him. Not to mention the smaller jar only last about 10 days. Would be spending about $70 a month just for fiber supplement. So overall it worked, just not in the way I hoped and just might not have been the right choice for my dog.
Two of my three dogs had a really bad reaction. One had excessive drooling for a few days, and the other had massive diarrhea. The third pup seemed just fine. I stopped it for several days and then tried it again as my vet instructed. They had the same reaction. It seems like a great product and I can't give it a bad review when my dogs may be super sensitive to an ingredient. The powder smelled good, came with a little scooper, and none of the pups even noticed it in their food. I wish I could continue use but it's just not going to happen :( I would recommend starting off at a very small dose to see how it affects your dog and move up from there.
I have not tried the product on my dog yet, but I was shocked to get a decent sized container, only to open it and see the container was only half full with the powder. What's the point of the large container then?
We were very surprised and disappointed upon opening the container as it was only half full. Poor value for the cost
Vetasyl that was prescribed by Fannie Farmer's vet is not available so Fiber For Dogs was substituted. It works. This was my first order with Chewy. Fannie Farmer waiting for her next order would not load
My dog doesn’t have a sphincter muscle, making it hard for her to move her bowels. This has been a life saver for us. If we miss a day, she has issues, that’s how I know this works! It’s also mostly natural ingredients, which is a plus for me.
Product is working out well for my German shephard who always has looser stool.
Great Product. Worked for my lab after about 3 meals with this added fiber.
