Both of our dogs love this bed (XL). The bigger guy, Schumie, sleeps in it for hours. He's a 50 pound Border Collie and will sleep with his head resting on the bolster for a pillow, or he'll curl up in the middle of it. Senna, our 25 pound Mini Aussie, uses it as a playground. She'll roll around on her back and do her Senna-dance (so wish I could post a video here!) or she'll bring her toys into the bed and thrash them. So although only one dog uses it for its intended purpose, both dogs love it and we couldn't be happier!
I bought this bed for my senior dog for Christmas. She loved it instantly and I was so happy with my purchase until I washed it the first time last week. After washing the liner, I went to put the filling back in and it ripped very easily. I was not tugging or jerking it-just trying to ease the outer filling back in when it ripped. I am not much of a sewer, but will have to do something. I did not expect it to last years without holes, but I did expect that it would last more than its first wash. I am not sure I would recommend to a friend based on how quickly and easily it ripped.
My dog has been sleeping with me since he was a puppy and will continue to do so, however, there are times we visit friends when I don't want him in the bed with me. I bought this bed hoping he used it because he has ignored others in spite of enticements. I never tried to get him to sleep in this bed, just put it out in the bedroom to see what would happen. He loves it and leaves me to sleep in his own bed. He loves to snuggle down into bed covers or anything else and he finds this bed perfect. I am thrilled!! (And I love the color!)
I bought these beds 2 medium for my two Italian greyhounds mixed that weigh 20 pounds definitely enough room for each of them . and 1 large for my grandsons dog, which is a pointer mix that weighs about 60 pounds, I went by the reviews I could’ve got an extra large for the 60 pound dog, he could definitely use more room length wise . the moment I got them in the dryer as it says for five minutes. I laid them down and my dogs right away got on their beds and went to sleep within 20 minutes. All 3 of them.. if my sweet little animals are happy that’s what makes me happy. Definitely recommend it.
I recently ordered this plush looking pet bed. Upon its arrival I followed the instructions shaking and putting in the dryer for 5 mins on low heat. Part of the pet bed and exterior were matted down. I contacted Chewy customer service who immediately sent a replacement. Upon its arrival today I re-read the instructions and shook it gently and put in the dryer for less than 5 mins on low heat and this one was worse than the 1st. Most of the bed and exterior is matted down. Super bummed!
I bought two of these because we saw one at a friends home and thought our two dogs might like them too. Also, our existing beds were pretty worn. Honestly, we are pleasantly shocked at just how quickly our pups took to them and how they continue to be drawn there. They clearly love them. The only problem is that our little 11 pound mutt continues to hog the larger bed. Our poor Heeler is relegated to tuck himself into the small. We now own 4 of these beds, divided between two different rooms. Curiously, out two cats have shown little interest after about 4 months.
Purchased these beds for my dogs for Christmas, as we only had one and it was in ratty shape due to my young dog ripping them apart. I have a 9 year old mini aussie mix and a 2 year old border collie mix. The border collie mix has never slept in a dog bed on her own accord. She prefers to sleep on the couch or our bed! Well now almost ever evening she goes to take a nap in her bed. See the picture! They are a little thin in the center so for my senior I put either an old bath mat or her flat old dog bed underneath to give it more cushion. Eventually I will buy a piece of foam and cut it to insert it directly. I got the large for the border collie and a medium for the Aussie. I probably could have gotten a medium for both dogs, but the large allows them to stretch out if they want to. Very pleased. Cannot wait to wash them as they are already getting stinky!
I have a dog who is NOT a big chewer. She has never ripped open a stuffed toy like the rest of my dogs. She was alone with this for 10 mins and I came back to the biggest mess I have ever seen. It was ruined the same day we received it. The material was so thin I am shocked this review is not more common.
My 17 pound, long-legged chi-beagle fits in the small with plenty of room. After attacking it for a bit as though it were an oversized stuffed animal, he calmed down and settled in appropriately. FYI, the inside bottom is a silky taffeta kind of fabric. I thought I would have preferred it being furry, but on second thought realized that: 1) the likes it and 2) it will be easier to spot clean. Two thumbs and two paws up.
So, I ordered 2 of the lavender original calming beds. One in medium and one XL, and I am extremely disappointed in the XL....there is almost no cushioning in the center. The color is lovely and the sides are full of stuffing. But, you can feel the floor through the center, which should be full and cuddly. The medium size is fine. The only reason it isn't being returned, is the size and the negative environmental foot print caused by shipping such a large item. Guess we will have to get creative with adding more stuffing, or something comparable, to ensure our seniors are resting comfortably.
