The Big Barker Jr. Pillow Top with Headrest Orthopedic Dog Bed is a very special bed for your very special dog. Made with an ultra-high quality, Certi-PUR US foam for dogs under 50 pounds, this bed will retain 90% of its original shape for an entire decade—no flattening or “pancake” beds! The foam is also specially engineered with orthopedic support, which molds gently around his pressure points and keeps them from ever touching the hard floor. And with the built-in headrest for him to nuzzle up against, this bed is nothing short of a dream for your deserving dog. It’s also easy to clean, thanks to the removable microfiber cover that is soft to the touch.

Cleaning the Dog Bed Cover: Our dog bed covers are machine washable. Wash on cold, tumble dry. Our microfiber also does not shrink. As long as you wash on cold & tumble dry, they can be washed 1,000 times and they won’t shrink by more than fractions of a millimeter.
Cleaning the Foam: The foam can be cleaned, but it’s a bit more hassle than washing the cover. If there’s ever an accident or a spill on the foam, what you want to do is soak the affected area thoroughly with warm water and dish soap. Let it sit for 5 - 10 minutes. Then press out as much moisture as you can. Do not “wring out” the foam, because wet foam is very heavy and tears very easily. Leave it in a dry place. It might take a couple days to completely dry out, but when it does, it should be good as new.

The microfiber covers are water-resistant, but not 100% waterproof. Things like drool, licking or a wet dog coming in from the rain will NOT get through the fabric.
Microfiber is a very tightly woven fabric, so the "holes" are very very tiny. Drool, wet fur, etc will be blocked by the microfiber cover.
However - if you spilled a glass of water on the cover and let it sit for a long time, it WILL get through.
While most dogs love the bed right away, it's not uncommon for some dogs to take up to a few weeks before getting used to a new bed. Don't worry, almost all dogs fall in love with the bed, it just takes some dogs longer than others.
Here are a few tips that have worked for other dog owners:
Most importantly though, just give it time.
No, the cover is not made from chew resistant material. We use a furniture grade microfiber. It's "tear resistant" - meaning, it holds up better against nesting/digging than most types of dog bed covers. But dogs can chew through it if they're determined.

As long as you wash on cold & tumble dry, they can be washed 1,000 times and they won’t shrink by more than fractions of a millimeter. They’re also very easy to take on and off. Most dog beds just zip on a single side, but we use zipper around 3 sides.
The crate pad covers are also machine washable, however it’s easier to clean them with just a wet rag. Since they’re made with waterproof backing, don’t worry about getting the foam wet. If soiled, you can wipe with warm soapy water. Any dish soap will do. If you do choose to machine wash, use low heat. Dry on low for 10-15 minutes. IMPORTANT: Never use high heat settings in the washer or dryer, high heat will destroy the waterproof backing.
Machine washable. Wash on low heat, dry on low for no more than 10-15 minutes. Drying the liner on high temperature settings will destroy the waterproof backing.

We’ve had the Big Barker ‘Senior’ for over 8 years and it’s the perfect dog bed. It’s still just as wonderful as the day it arrived. The Junior version is awful! It’s VERY thin and our dogs won’t even lie on it. Very disappointed.
I bought this bed for my 15 year old 50# dog with arthritis. He seems to find it comfortable, and the fabric has withstood repeated scratching. He used to tear all his beds apart until I bought "chew proof" beds. He is too old for that now, but I believe the fabric can withstand a lot of punishment. Yet it feels soft. The fabric does attract loose fur so I vacuum the bed occasionally.
If your dog is used to 3-sided beds which make them feel snug & secure, this might be rejected by them. It’s super-well constructed, love that it’s made in the US. Excellent quality foam. But the design needs to have (higher, maybe) bumpers on ALL 3 sides. Either that, or start your dog out on these from the get-go so they don’t miss the enclosure of a sided/deeper bed.
My small dog is 13 and has worsening arthritis. He loves the bed and is comfortable for hours when I lay him on it. It’s a great size in terms of width and length. He gets off easily, but never gets back on on his own, because the 4 inches is even a little too high for him to want to climb up. For reference he is about 11in tall and 18in long and 10lbs.
This is a well-made bed, offers great support. Unfortunately my beagle girl prefers her other doggie bed which is softer and more plush. Just didn’t work out for her..
So ill start by saying my dog has never liked dog beds. He is stricly a kitchen floor and then at night human bed. Ive always tried to buy him fluffy comfy beds throughout his life with no success. Unfortunately lately with his old age of 10 and him having bad arthritis I decided to gice this bed a try instead of another i was going to try. I AM so extremely glad i got this one. For thw first time ever he has shown intrest. He sleeps like a baby and its so light that I bring it upstairs and downstairs for him when he is on either floor. It is firm like he likes but also therapeutic for his achey joints. The price reflects in ths product. Im so glad chewy is here to supply great products foe my old man.
These beds are perfect! We had a large one for our last dog whom has passed. Now we have two dogs and have a large and small dog so we needed a new small bed.
Super soft and supportive. My dog hasn't had any issues with joint pain.
Very comfortable and supportive. The built in pillow is a nice touch.
Disappointed in this product. Not as good as the full size beds. Either cover is too big or foam has not expanded enough.
