The roof is two separate pieces
I like the birdhouse but was disappointed to see that the cedar was rough so I sanded it smooth and the roof is made up of two separate pieces with no overlap. This means that rain can get inside the bird house when the wood starts to shrink and the seam between the two sections of the roof start to separate. I'll need to seal the two pieces of wood with a silicon caulk. You'll have to do this before you mount it up a tree like I did. I think a bird is living in it already, which is a good thing. I'll have to wait until fall to seal it.
Not worth buying.
I bought two of these blue bird houses because of the unique opening in them that supposedly sparrows do not like. First house I put up is being used by sparrows! Haven't seen anything use the second house yet. I have an old bird house that two blue birds are currently nesting in.
Thrilled With These Houses!
When we opened the box and took a look, we were thrilled with the quality of these Bluebird Houses! We bought 2 of them and the bluebirds are already checking them out! Hoping for a few clutches of birds this season!
Blue Bird house
I just dug out a sparrow nest this morning. The blue birds have moved somewhere else. It was easier the clean out with the drop-down door.
The best birdhouses I have ever purchased....going to order two more right now!
Constructed well for the reasonable price
Within 30 minutes of putting up our new bluebird house (that we painted the outside a light blue), we saw an Eastern bluebird and a Carolina Wren checking it out. NO sparrows at all, and we have plenty of those. Can't wait to see who moves in!
Great design, rough edges.
This style was recommended by a friend and looks similar to one our neighbor has. It's very well designed, but some of the edges are very ragged, like their saw needed sharpening.
Looking forward to this spring.
Like the boxes, shipped quick too! One has a large split on the top so piece will break off. Also it would be nice if instructions said how small wood piece laid. Hole side up or flat side up! Thanks!
