Caused stomach issues & price increased
My pup, Dakota, absolutely hated this bag. He experienced really bad digestive issues once we’d completely transitioned to Blackwood and had to be seen by his vet a few times to get medication. He’s pretty good about eating his food regardless of whether I add soft food or warm water but I absolutely could not get him to eat this. He would wait until he was absolutely starving and even then, half his food was often left in the bowl for me to throw out. Have since switched to another brand of food and won’t make the mistake of purchasing this again.
Unhappy Dog Owner
I am very happy with this dog food. I have been using it for almost one and a half years. I am very upset that overnight the price has almost doubled. Why? It went from $33 dollars a bag to $62 a bag and now $66 a bag. I know price have to be adjusted but to double the price over a very short period is ridiculous. I use to get 2 bags for $70(includes taxes) but now its $125 for 2 bags.

Great food
I just recently added a new dog to my family and needed to find a cheaper dry food that was still high quality. Blackwood is recommended by WDJ, so I decided to try it. The Chicken Meal & Rice Recipe does not have any legumes listed as an ingredient, one thing I was looking for. My older dog who has a sensitive stomach transitioned very well to this food, and my younger dog loves it too. They have just about finished their first bag, and so far, so good.
Too much diarrhea for my pup to handle
I wanted to stick with this brand, I really did. At first, Dakota seemed super excited to eat this kibble. But as we’re moving into the 2nd month, I can tell he’s kinda just going through the motions. He’s also had constant GI distress which is not common for him. On other brands, his poop is always solid but Blackwood has caused lots of soft stool if not flat out diarrhea. Other than this food being cheap, I wouldn’t buy it again.
~60% Price Increase Overnight
Love the food and have been buying exclusively for my labs and german shepherd. Unfortunately, overnight prices increased approximately 60%! I guess I will need to start searching for a new brand as much as I hate to do it. :(
Formula changed
I was so happy to find Blackwood without any peas or pea flour. I used it for a few months and then they changed their formula and added PEA FLOUR!!! They went the cheap route and took out lots of antioxidant fruits. I m totally disappointed with you Blackwood! I'm looking for another food again
Home Delivery
Nice to have two big bags of dog food and a flat of can food delivered to our home. On more outing during Covid-19 that I do not have to make to keep our dogs fed. Being able to easily change when they will ship is so easy if my estimate of time between shipments is off.
NOT THE SAME
We were very pleased with this Chicken & Rice blend of dog food until the pea flour was added. Couldn’t figure out why my Mo was breaking out on his legs after starting to eat this new blend. Please update the ingredients where it says “ Pea Free” ! Will continue to buy pea free blends of dog food from Blackwood if I can trust your listed ingredients are true . Please update your site as ingredients are changed. Thanks
Dogs were totally not interested. Poop doubled in size = fillers
I was hoping to save a few dollars on dog food but that was a mistake. I was using Kinetic and the poop was firm and small. I have 4 dogs and this was the first time they all ignored any food! After a day, they finally ate it but they consumed only half as much food as usual but their poop was 2x bigger and they pooped more! It was stinky and softer too. I will go back to Kinetics dog food.
