Feeding Instructions
  • Adult - Feed 3/4 to 1 1/4 cans per 15lbs. of body weight per day.

  • Puppy - Feed up to twice the adult amount per day.

  • Gestation and Lactation - Feed up to three times the adult amount per day.

  • For Combination Feeding - Feed 1/3 cup less dry food for every 1/2 can of wet food.

Adjust the amount of food you serve based on the age, size and activity level of your dog. Food should be fed at room temperature. Promptly refrigerate the unused portion.

Transition Instructions

Begin the transition by mixing both the current food with their new food together. Gradually decrease the amount of the current food while increasing the amount of new food. Continue to do this over a 7-day period.

Transitioning slowly can result in fewer digestive issues and better acceptance of the new food.

Remember to be patient. For finicky, older, or dogs with health conditions, the transition time could take 10 days or up to 2 weeks.

    Blackwood dog food

    By on

My pugs love this and my male does not have as bad annul gland odor as he did with other wet dog food. Will buy this brand again and may try a variety of flavors.

    Dog wouldn't eat it

    By on Top 500 Contributor

My dog wouldn't eat it. It didn't smell like anything, and for a pate style wet food it was very firm and didn't have enough gravy. Disappointed considering it's mostly turkey.

    Excellent product

I have a diabetic dog with pancreatitis and all three flavors have been a big hit! Her blood sugar is stable and we've had no pancreatitis flare-ups!

    They love it

    By on

I don’t very often feed canned dog food but use it to “disguise” supplements that they won’t easily take (e.g. heart worm meds). My friends feed this and I tried it and my dogs went crazy for it. I now give it as an add on for a treat in addition to the Stella and Chewy’s freeze dried beef.

I had to order Blackwood for cats because the cats kept trying to eat my pup's food & he doesn't want to share.

Pretty good food for a good dog

    By on

My pupper had dental problems, so after surgery, had to be on wet food. She always liked wet food on the few occasions I gave it to her, but I couldn't even get this off the spoon before she was trying to devour it.

Not "chunks in gravy" it's a pate

    By on

The food texture was described as "chunks in gravy." But it wasn't, it was a pate, don't like that. Since my dogs won't eat it, I'll donate the food. Please correct the description.
