About BLUE Buffalo

Blue Buffalo began with unconditional love and some furry inspiration from a large breed Airedale, Blue. When Blue's family started a pet food company, their vision was clear. They wanted every pet parent to be able to feed their pet with the same care they would feed family. So they created the #1 natural pet specialty food to help furry family members live happy, healthy lives. Of course, they named it after Blue.

Where are all the ingredients sourced from? ANY of the ingredients from China?
Answer by ChewyDec 25, 2019
Many of their ingredients, such as most grains and meats, like chicken, beef and turkey come from the United States. Where the ingredients are not readily available in the Unites States, such as many vitamins and minerals, their suppliers will only work with reliable foreign companies, and subject all ingredients to rigorous quality testing, and none of their ingredients are sourced from China.

My senior cat is toothless due to dental disease. The vet recommended food with small kibble. Does this have small kibble?
Answer by ChewyNov 04, 2017
The kibble is approximately the size of a pea.

My kitties are both 7 and currently eat Blue sensitive tummy and love it. When should I switch them over to mature ?
Answer by ChewyJan 22, 2018
Kitties are considered seniors after 7+ years of age, you can switch them over now.

I have 3 kitties. They are 18, 10, and 3. Is it OK to feed my 3 year old kitty healthy aging? She eats both canned and dry food.
Answer by ChewyAug 17, 2021
This food is formulated specifically for senior cats. While this kibble won't harm your younger cat, this option won't be optimal for them.

It's alright, they'll eat it

Thought I'd give this a try, its supposed to be "better", right? Healthier? Their marketing got me. My 3 kitties says Meh, they'll eat it, but they definitely like Purina One better. I usually get the Purina One Sensitive Systems. My vet says not to be fooled by all the newer pet foods out there, she recommends the older, more established brands.

Works Great!

Before I switched to this, I used Blue’s freedom grain (or something named like that, heh). My then-12-year-old cat ate it, but he’d throw up and was a little more skinny than I was comfortable with, so I gave this one a try. And boy what a change! Far less throw up, he ate more, and he thickened up. Now he’s 15, probably the healthiest looking he’s been in years, and still eating this food. Definitely recommend!

Cat won't eat it

My aging cat doesn't like this food. I was excited to try it, as I have tried other blue buffalo items in the past with success, but this was a no go for my Bear-cat.

Good for older cats

My poor kitty is old and has had to have some teeth pulled so she has a hard time chewing normal dry food. She will swallow and not chew the food because it is to hard for her to chew and throw up, but the Blue Buffalo Aging is soft enough for her to chew and still be dry food. We are very happy with the consistency and nutrients in Blue Buffalo Aging.

I love this food

My 13 year old cat has gotten very picky about her food. She ate the same food for years and then stopped eating it. She loved this food. I went through the bag in no time. Her appetite improved. Her stool was firm and normal. My other cat Sabrina also enjoyed it.

So far, so good.

My cats needed to be switched to a Senior formula so I did some looking around and came across this. It had really good reviews so i decided to give it a try. My cats seem to like it.

reliable recipe

I am very anxious about what i give my cats so before switching to this i checked with my vet and they agreed it was a good choice. I have a 12 year old cat and a 2 year old cat and the vet said the recipe was great for my senior cat but that it could also be given to my younger cat as long as she gets other things as well. I give them both this and 2 cans of wet food a day and they are both as healthy as can be and love meal times!

Used to be a hit

I’m giving 3 stars on the basis that at one point my kitty absolutely adored this food, and that I also will continue to recommend it to any friends or family members that asked what food he eats just because I’ve had great luck with this food up until this point. The bag I got with my most recent Chewy order seems to be a different than what I’ve received in the past. He will barely even sniff it and will walk away, while before he would have no problem gobbling down. I tried putting it in three separate bowls and on a plate to see if maybe he wanted it out of a different bowl, but no give. I’m not sure if they’ve changed something in the ingredients, or maybe he has just decided he doesn’t like this food anymore, but it’s not like him to suddenly dislike a food he used to love to the point where he would rather just starve. I also thought maybe he was having some sort of medical issue and took him to the vet, but they said he was as healthy as ever, so it’s hard for me to believe it’s not something to do with this most recent bag. Perhaps I got a bad bag, but none the less I will be changing him to a different food, unfortunately. Can’t have a starving kitty :(

Never seen my picky 14 y/o eat so much!

I got my cat when he was 13 and he’s always been very picky and never cared much for food. He has two food bowls and one of them I rotate dry food in hopes that one will be a hit and I tried this and he’s obsessed. He’s eating like a normal, hungry cat. I’m hoping it will help him finally put on some weight!

My cat did not like this food

I am sorry to inform you that my cat did not like this food. I have been trying to find a food for Senior cats (7 years old) that she would eat. Can this be returned for a refund, even though the bag has been opened?
