Yes! If you have a paper copy of your prescription, email a picture to vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat, or fax your prescription to 1-800-619-7973.

Can I use a prescription written by a veterinarian out of state?

Of course! We can accept valid prescriptions from anywhere in the United States and Canada—that includes US territories, like Puerto Rico.

About BLUE Buffalo

Blue Buffalo began with unconditional love and some furry inspiration from a large breed Airedale, Blue. When Blue's family started a pet food company, their vision was clear. They wanted every pet parent to be able to feed their pet with the same care they would feed family. So they created the #1 natural pet specialty food to help furry family members live happy, healthy lives. Of course, they named it after Blue.

    Pancreatic yorkie

    By on

My little yorkie was very sick and had to go to the emergency vet and had several follow ups with my vet. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis. I had to force feed him the canned GI dog food which he hated. I noticed all the top brand GI food was made from terrible products and I didn’t want to feed that to him. So since he normally ate blue I tried this. It has wholesome good ingredients instead of corn gluten and by products which at my surprise the top brands are made of. This food is pretty pricey and did not want to pay for that. He’s been on the Blue GI for a couple weeks now and so far he is feeling very good! I also feed him some chicken and rice on the side. Happy but not Happy !!!

    By on

The taste must be good but the size I’m not to happy with. I have 2 small Chihuahuas & I have to cut it into smaller pieces so they can eat it. This is something I’d rather not have to do. For the price of the food you would think you would have the option for a small breed. This has nothing to do with Chewy, they are great !

    NATURAL BLUE BUFFLALO GI

    By on

"PENNY" is a very finicky 1 year old feamle English Cream Golden Retriever. She's always liked Blue Buffalo but was too rich for her tummy when she was a baby so we switched to Natural Blue Buffalo GI dry as she became a "teen ager." Penny seems to like it & appears to work ok with her GI issues. We received Penny's food within two days of ordering it. They're always fast. Thanks "Chewy."

    Thank goodness!

    By on

My puppy has been on 3 different foods since we got her and all of them gave her diarrhea. The vet put her on canned prescription Hill's Id which she tolerated but the cost was nuts, appx $275/month! So after a month of that we switched her to the Blue Buffalo Veterinary and no more tummy issues!!!

    No more GI troubles!

    By on

Several days ago, we had to take Gunner to the vet. OH NO! The most likely culprit was that he ate something he wasn't supposed to, and it upset his tummy. His vet recommended putting him on the competitor brand, until we realized that Gunner is pretty picky about his food. So we stuck with the brand he's already on. He has had no problem switching over to this food while his GI problems resolve. He readily eats it for breakfast and dinner. I will definitely buy this again.

I have purchased other types of items before and have never been disappointed.
