This is the only dry prescription food (out of three brands) that my 2 cats with kidney issues will eat without taking a sniff, then looking at me with disappointment, and then stalking away. In honesty, though, they'd much prefer regular kibble, not gonna lie, but this is better for them, and will be purchased again.
I was forced to make quick changes due to the horrifying news of the onset of CKD. I don't like dry kibbles, and I have been feeding her the highest quality wet organic food most of her life, but I am familiar with Blue Buffalo kibbles from prior use. I left the kibbles thing due to my kitty getting a UTI and getting a wee tiny bit too fat & still other reasons. I'm back! My kitty is so crazy about this food, she thinks it's *dessert* & vocally lets me know it LOL. I am guarded as to the amount I feed her because it's dry, but she's totally crazy about it. I pick out more of the cold processed formulated life bits & she eats *all* of it!--immediately or almost immediately! I also give her the wet version & very few other low phosphorous foods. This is her top favorite. Good ingredients without the gums, too, or dangerous ingredients--that's the positive side. The flip side is that it's dry food & processed for dry. The life bits are a sure winner! I'm SO grateful for them. I wouldn't let this big bag get stale. You can always buy another bag after a while & donate or give the rest to the raccoons.
So far my cat is eating the food and seems to like it. The only issue I've noticed is he spits out the darker colored ones. No idea if that's going to be a problem. I can't tell if it's helping with his kidneys or arthritis yet, but I have noticed he's still losing weight which can't be a good sign. I'll know more when we see the vet, but at least he's eating most of the food.
I was worried that my 15 yr old cat with kidney issues would not like the taste of this cat food. She loves it!!! She gobbles it up. Blue Buffalo is a great brand!
My cat has eaten Blue Buffalo for most of her life and has seemingly liked it. I was hesitant about putting her on a prescription diet, but it is what she needs. I felt good about this diet because it is the same brand, and I thought that the taste must be close. It must have been! My Tika took right to it! She also had no ill effects from the change. In fact, we made the change in record time.
My senior cat was put on the K-M diet by his vet because of his medical condition. He had been eating commercial cat food his entire life, and the change was very difficult for him. However, hunger took over, and now he is eating & seems to have acclimated to the new diet. Let's hope it works!
My cat was eating this food for about two years and it improved her kidney levels in blood tests. However, my vet confirmed that Blue Buffalo reformulated this food. I suspected that was the case because this new bag is making my cat sick. She does not like it and she has been throwing up daily. I was not informed of the reformulation ahead of time. My poor kitty!
My cat was diagnosed with early kidney disease in December of 2020 and I started her on this food at that time. Her mobility has definitely improved (she turns 13 this month) and her last bloodwork results show that she is back within normal kidney ranges! BBKM dry is the only food she eats, she will not touch any kind of wet food or treats or cooked or raw meat, poultry, or fish. Every cat is different and results may vary, but I am extremely grateful to Blue Buffalo for bringing my baby back to good health!
I really struggle to get my cat to eat what is good for her and this is one of the few products she will actually eat!
My one cat has to be on this food but because I have two cats, they both eat it and love it. Vet said it is fine and actually healthier and less stressful on kidneys than other cat food.
