Transition Instructions
Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow a 7 to 14-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. For a 14-day transition plan, start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Days 1-4. On Days 5-8, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Days 9-11, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Days 12-14, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

About BLUE Buffalo
Blue Buffalo began with unconditional love and some furry inspiration from a large breed Airedale, Blue. When Blue's family started a pet food company, their vision was clear. They wanted every pet parent to be able to feed their pet with the same care they would feed family. So they created the #1 natural pet specialty food to help furry family members live happy, healthy lives. Of course, they named it after Blue.

cats find this irresistible
I originally bought this alligator dry cat food when I was looking for chicken-free food. One of our cats is highly allergic to chicken and gets bleeding lesions on his feet and mouth after consuming chicken. Almost all cat food has chicken in it, even though it is labeled differently. You have to read the fine print. A very helpful Chewy customer service rep recommended this food, and although it is a special diet requiring vet approval and is quite pricey, both our cats love it to distraction. It's like catnip for them!

Worth every penny
I never would have imagined in a million years that I would spend this kind of money on my cat, but here I am. She's eating like the spoiled princess she is. Alligator. I still cannot, but all I have to say is that this stuff is already working. She has the worst stomach ever and has been so sensitive to everything her entire life. She is now 9 and I had to do something different because she was dropping weight on non-prescription food. She hasn't had a foul-smelling poo in weeks and I am so happy to report that she is putting on weight!

Taste not good
Unfortunately my cats did not like the taste. They do like the salmon flavored one though.

All the cats in the house wanted in the sacred bathroom
I have four cats, One of which is the one I bought this cat food for because of her extreme allergies to food. I was nervous getting it because she’s normally on the hydrolyzed protein which is always chicken. It’s very limited in the selections, and I can tell she gets bored easily. Well let me tell you what, she devoured this, and all three cats wanted into the bathroom to devour it as well!! I have to feed my special girl inside the bathroom so the other three don’t eat her very expensive prescription diets. None of them ever have responded to the food like they do this one. They meow and cry for this alligator food, it’s crazy! Thank you so much BB for making something that’s good and apparently tasty for skin allergy pets!

Made my cat vomit plus diarrhea
I purchased this food w/ high hopes and high expectations to feed to my one male cat that vomits almost every day. I have tried all types of food but with not much success. After doing due diligence on this food, I decided to purchase it. I received the food and was excited for him to try it. I have three other cats, but they don’t have the symptoms of the cat I purchased the food for. The cat that vomited would not eat it; two of the others would not get near it; however, my eldest cat nibbled on it for a couple days and he became sick w/ vomiting and severe diarrhea. I took up the food and have been giving it to the strays outside. Unfortunately, this item does not have a smaller bag or even a sample bag to try. So it was a costly “try and see if it works” food. The food really had a very strange odor to it as well, fishy/gamey smell.

Novel protein food working for IBD
My rag doll cat had been eating hydrolyzed Blue Buffalo food, which has been on endless back order.
As a substitute, this novel protein food was one possible option that my Vet suggested.
I have been very slowly switching my cat over to this food for the past 3 - 4 weeks and he is doing well so far and he likes the food.
He is very finicky so I am relieved that he has accepted this food and that so far is digesting it okay.
He was very sick and was diagnosed with IBD about a year ago after a CT scan, and is on prednisolodone and omeprazole daily.

He loves it!
We have recently discovered that our 3 year old rescue kitty has a fish allergy. This was months after bumps and later scabs from scratching appeared on his ears. It got to the point where we had to put a cone on him.
While doing an elimination diet as prescribed by our vet , he recommended this alligator dry food. I was like “ what” ALLIGATOR! He will never eat it! But trust me after trying 10-15 different foods, he loves it. We are currently only giving him dry food for a month as well as daily immunosuppressant and then we will see about introducing wet food again. But for now he is not starving himself. Try this as a novel protein, it’s worth the money spent .

Great so far
My cat was throwing up weekly or multiple times a week for most of her life right after eating. So far this combined with a different wet food she hasn't thrown up at all. It's only been a few weeks, so not quite long enough to know 100%, but so far it's great and she really likes how it tastes

Cats not happy
My Vet suggested this as an alternative to Blue Buffalo HF (Veterinarian Diet) which has been out of stock. One of my Cats has IBD and two of my other Cats have sensitivity to some foods. They all love the BB-HF. As I have a multi-cat home I try to limit the types of Cat foods I purchase. Our Vet said that my other Cats who are healthy can eat the Veterinarian Diet as well. I had previously tried the other Major Brands (Veterinarian Diet) Dry Cat Foods Hydrolyzed Formulas and my Cats refused to eat it, so I chose to give this NP Veterinarian Diet a try. My Cats were not pleased with Mom’s choice of food. They all pick at the food because they are hungry, there is a lot of food left behind. I am hoping and praying that the BB-HF Veterinarian Diet is back in stock soon, all my Cats love that food. Thank you!
