About BLUE Buffalo

Blue Buffalo began with unconditional love and some furry inspiration from a large breed Airedale, Blue. When Blue's family started a pet food company, their vision was clear. They wanted every pet parent to be able to feed their pet with the same care they would feed family. So they created the #1 natural pet specialty food to help furry family members live happy, healthy lives. Of course, they named it after Blue.

Bought this canned food and the dry food for a stray cat I've been taking care of. This was a last resort. I've tried every other food there is for allergies. She won't go near the canned or the dry food. I put what she didn't eat outside and the racoons wouldn't even eat it.

Yummy food that kitty begs for

Our dermatologist suggested switching kitty over to either rayne kangaroo, rayne rabbit or blue Buffalo alligator food for a novel protein to help with his skin issues. I ended up picking the alligator because it had both dry and wet versions and seemed to be reliably in stock unlike the rabbit option. My kitty loves this so much more than prior food (z/d) and can’t wait to eat. So far his skin is doing well on it. He likes both the wet and dry alligator. It’s also helped with his constipation. Here’s hoping it continues to help his tummy and skin issues!

Did Not Disappoint

We have been fans of Blue Buffalo for many years. One of our cats was recently diagnosed with IBD. The vet recommended putting him on a Novel Protein diet. Once again, we turned to Blue Buffalo. He has been on his new regimen for two weeks. He is eating both the wet and dry formulas of the NP diet. We are thrilled with his results so far. No more vomiting or diarrhea, and he is beginning to gain some weight. Best part? He absolutely LOVES the food and can't wait for his next meal! Thank you Blue and thank you Chewy for delivering the food so promptly.

cats wouldn’t touch it

Ordered this as one of very few options out there for single novelty protein diets for a severely allergic cat. She preferred to starve than touching it. Her sibling did the same. I would pay any price to get something that works. Alas, this wasn’t the winner.

Sadly my cat refused it

I have a 14 1/2 year old Bengal with IBD that evolved into lymphoma. I have tried every food out there, wet food, dry food, the intestinal diets, the hydrolyzed proteins and the novel proteins (duck, rabbit, venison). When I called Chewy they suggested the Blue Buffalo Alligator, definitely something different! I was truly hopeful and will spare you the two weeks of antics trying to slip this into his diet but he absolutely refuses it. I'm confused by some of the other reviews, one had said goopy so I figured good, it must have a gravy. Not at all, it is a pale colored homogeneous firm pate cooked in the can. There is no gravy, aspic or liquid of any kind. You have to scoop it out of the can and slice or mash, however you want to serve it. If you rub some between your fingers it's a smooth matrix with what feels like salt in it (not). To me it doesn't have much of a smell at all but he sure picked up on it. These companies have to start offering sample packs for us folks spending hundreds to thousands on sick cats, desperately trying to find the food they will eat.

Cat loved it!

I was hesitant to buy this based on the reviews, but it has been prescribed for my 8 1/2-year-old female cat, so I gave it a try. She loved it! She's normally a very picky eater and grazes her food, but she ate all of this at once. She really likes it. Yay!

Non Allergenic food

My cat likes the food and has become less allergic as she continues to eat only this. A bit on the pricey side but Midnight is worth it.....thanks

My cats won’t eat it!

I have a cat with severe allergies, so my vet recommended I try this food. My cats won’t eat it, they would rather starve. This food is very expensive and I hate to waste it, so I tried feeding it to my 7 outside cats, they won’t eat it either!!! So, I have 18 cans of food that none of my cats will eat! If you can buy a few cans to try first, I would recommend that, since $76 for 24 cans is an investment.

Gets the Job Done

I think anyone looking to buy alligator is like me, their cat has food sensitivities to fish, chicken, beef, and you're looking for a different protein. This is certainly different. The good news is my cat will eat it, but she is definitely not crazy about it. Strange texture, goopy, sticks together. I'm surprised my cat will eat it at all. If you're looking for something different for your cat that does not have food sensitivities, I would not recommend this. But for a desperate cat owner looking for a different protein, you could try this, even at the very high price.
