Help your sensitive sidekick get the nutrition she needs and the taste she loves with Blue Buffalo’s Natural Veterinary Diet NP Novel Protein Alligator Canned Cat Food. Some cats negatively react to common proteins, which can lead to issues like skin irritation and digestion problems. This Blue Buffalo recipe is specially formulated to help manage those issues and help minimize reactions. It’s crafted with real alligator, which is rarely linked to food intolerances in felines, and it’s the only source of animal protein in this pal-atable pate. This recipe also provides cats with omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil and flaxseed to promote healthy skin and a lustrous coat. Plus, it’s grain-free and made with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to support a healthy immune system and overall health.

Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow a 7 to 14-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. For a 14-day transition plan, start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Days 1-4. On Days 5-8, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Days 9-11, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Days 12-14, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.

About BLUE Buffalo
Blue Buffalo began with unconditional love and some furry inspiration from a large breed Airedale, Blue. When Blue's family started a pet food company, their vision was clear. They wanted every pet parent to be able to feed their pet with the same care they would feed family. So they created the #1 natural pet specialty food to help furry family members live happy, healthy lives. Of course, they named it after Blue.

Cat loved it!
By CatOwner on Dec 16, 2020
I was hesitant to buy this based on the reviews, but it has been prescribed for my 8 1/2-year-old female cat, so I gave it a try. She loved it! She's normally a very picky eater and grazes her food, but she ate all of this at once. She really likes it. Yay!

Non Allergenic food
By Midnight on Jan 16, 2021
My cat likes the food and has become less allergic as she continues to eat only this. A bit on the pricey side but Midnight is worth it.....thanks

My cats won’t eat it!
By Allicat on Jul 21, 2020
I have a cat with severe allergies, so my vet recommended I try this food. My cats won’t eat it, they would rather starve. This food is very expensive and I hate to waste it, so I tried feeding it to my 7 outside cats, they won’t eat it either!!! So, I have 18 cans of food that none of my cats will eat! If you can buy a few cans to try first, I would recommend that, since $76 for 24 cans is an investment.

Gets the Job Done
By RobbyJ on Aug 18, 2019
I think anyone looking to buy alligator is like me, their cat has food sensitivities to fish, chicken, beef, and you're looking for a different protein. This is certainly different. The good news is my cat will eat it, but she is definitely not crazy about it. Strange texture, goopy, sticks together. I'm surprised my cat will eat it at all. If you're looking for something different for your cat that does not have food sensitivities, I would not recommend this. But for a desperate cat owner looking for a different protein, you could try this, even at the very high price.

Cats not Fans
By Jacob on Jul 11, 2019
Blue Buffalo doesn't mess around and I'm sure this is high quality stuff, so I decided to take the plunge on the price. Unfortunately neither of my cats are very big fans of this. They'll eat it, but it's with definite reluctance.
