    My dog approves!

    By ALE0911 on Mar 27, 2019

My dog normally would eat anything it seems. However since she started having kidney issues, her appetite dwindled. I bought several different foods because I know kidney disease patients appetite can be tricky and can change what they like. I've tried Royal Canin different flavors A, S, F and for right My dog normally would eat anything it seems. However since she started having kidney issues, her appetite dwindled. I've tried Royal Canin different flavors A, S, F and for right now- she prefers Blue Buffalo KS- Kidney Support. I know this may change and she may start leaning towards the other flavors. She's even turning down home cooking (kidney disease based) for Blue Buffalo. I trust Blue Buffalo to provide high quality ingredients and I'm happy she's approving of this. I add in Dave's low phosphorus, low protein wet dog food on the side to mix in her kidney supplements. (There are wonderful phosphorus binders out there that are very effective as well as supplements that help kidney health). … more

    My dog wouldn't touch it

By Kassiebree on Nov 28, 2018

I was hoping my old girl would like this food, but she wouldn't touch it. Not a single bite. My other dog wouldn't go for it either. Very disappointing.

WAY Better Than Hill's or Royal Canine's Kidney Diet!

    By on

I am so thankful for Blue Natural KS Prescription diet! My dog was just diagnosed with Early Renal Failure and my dogtor (vet) recommended that we change the diet of my 8.5 year dog, who has seizures, to Royal Canine. When I picked up the bag and read the ingredients for Royal Canine prescription diet, the first ingredient was chicken by-product. The food is junk, but they charge a fortune for it! So I did some research and found Blue Natural KS Diet, and I'm so glad that I did. My dog loves it, and it's actually less expensive than the junk at the vet office. My only request of Blue Natural Veterinary Diet is that the remove the Rosemary extract. Many dogs are allergic to rosemary extract I am so thankful for Blue Natural KS Prescription diet! Please find a different all-natural preservative or put a shorter shelf life on the product. … more

    It’s a Winner

My 14 year old Bichon Frise was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease so I decided to try this. She loves it! I used to leave her kibble out, but now I have to measure her food because she won’t stop eating this kibble until it’s gone :). Her breath is better too, so think it must be easier on her kidneys.

Good dog food made by a caring American company.

Good dog food made by a caring American company. Watched a short documentary about how the family business got its start I was convinced about the product especially since my vet gave me a prescription and chewy cared enough to make certain that my dogs prescription was all filled out.

My dog has the beginning of renal failure. He is 15 and really likes the food. It’s the only prescription dog food that I know of that is grain free. Not a fan of Hills or Science diet. Don’t want to give my dog grain.

A kidney support food the dogs will actually eat!

    By on

I tried k/d and nobody would eat it. I tried this and the 15yr old boss of my life loves it! He eats out of a bowl, like a dog, and his numbers have come down as well. I'm a fan, ordered more!

It was my dog's "saving Grace"...

The Renal Diet is a hard one should your dog be diagnosed with it. First, I tried Hill's Prescription Diet because it's a household name so I figured it would be a win. My dog ate it for a little while she was transitioning to it full, but once I got to the point where she was supposed to only be eating it should refused. She's a rescue dog that has always needed to put on some weight so her not eating wasn't an acceptable option so I started looking for other options. Heard that the Royal Canine option was blander than Hill's so I passed on that and no way would I ever give my little lovebug Purina whose main ingredient is CORN. Thankful, Blue Buffalo has an alternative. It's taken about a The Renal Diet is a hard one should your dog be diagnosed with it. Thankful, Blue Buffalo has an alternative. It's taken about a month to fully transition my dog to it but she eats it!!!!!!!! I sometimes have to refill her bowl TWICE a day which is quite the accomplishment and now we're on our second bag of this goodness. Keep in mind that when your pet is diagnosed with kidney failure it will surely be a bit difficult at times on your dog: Think about it...you've always given your dog a PROTEIN based diet and now you're most likely having to switch to a GRAIN based. It's naturally going to be blander and not taste as good. So I'm glad BB now has an option for Kidney Care otherwise I don't know what I would have done. … more

Reba loved your small bite dry food. That's why we were excited to try your Rx kidney dry. Probably will try your canned stuff when we need to reorder.

The transition from blue buffalo toy breed food to this KS blue buffalo was a breeze. My dogs loves it. He did not have one digestive problem during the switch. I am so glad I found a great food for him that is good for his kidneys. Chewy helped me with the choice. I love Chewy.

Best kidney support kibble I've found so far

    By on

My dog has not been very enthusiastic about some of the dry kidney support diets I've tried before. The Blue Buffalo food appears to be made from quality ingredients and my dog likes it so much I can even occasionally use it for treats.
