    Cat is okay with it

By Kittay on Jan 5, 2020

This food is on rotation along with the Purina, KD and Hills Kidney can foods for my cat. My cat loves the dry kibble version of this food. I mix it with bone broth by Stella and Chewy to make it more like a regular pate and sprinkle some of the dry food on top and sometimes he eats a lot of it and sometimes he just eats a bit. I'd say he likes it just as much as the Purina, KD and Hills kidney foods (which is to say he doesn't love it but will eat enough of it to satisfy his hunger). … more

    More like fudge than pâté

By SunCats on Oct 28, 2019

We insisted that our vet write a prescription for this food instead of the normal Hills/Purina that they want to sell since our cats love the Indoor Freedom canned food that we had been using. We checked ahead of time to make sure that this canned food was also a pâté style (since our cats do not like We insisted that our vet write a prescription for this food instead of the normal Hills/Purina that they want to sell since our cats love the Indoor Freedom canned food that we had been using. We checked ahead of time to make sure that this canned food was also a pâté style (since our cats do not like the shredded varieties). When our order arrived and we tried the first can out on our cats, I found that the consistency of the food was more like a fudge than a soft pâté. After being refrigerated, it ended up being very rubbery. The reaction from our cats has been mixed. One of our cats seems to like being able to eat the food like she does the dry food (since it ends up looking like small kibbles after we have chopped it up a bit). But, the cat that needs this food the most is not so sure, and won't eat this as well as she did the previous food. Since we can only order this by the case, it will be a while before I find out if I just received a bad batch. … more

    No cats will eat this

    By on

My kidney kitty absolutely refuses to eat this no matter how many times I try to sneak it in. I’ve tried with other renal kitties I pet sit for and none like it. In fact, one cat that did like it, vomited from it. Unfortunately a thumbs down from all cats.

    Sweet Potatoes Harmful

    By on

To cats on a daily basis. Why do they sell this? Blue Buffalo sucks. I used to feed my cat their dry food. Turns out they are garbage and there was a lawsuit. He now has KD.

    Finicky cat won't eat it

    By on

My cat is extremely finicky, and I've tried most major high quality normal foods and he rejects them. Since his diagnosis with Chronic Kidney Disease, I've tried this and one other brand, tried warming the can in warm water, put tuna juice and canned cooked chicken broth on it, did the 25% new with 75% old....no matter what, he walks away from it. He loves the Blue Buffalo dry version of this, so I thought he would like this also, but he won't eat it. He has been fed Blue Buffalo as his normal diet for years, and they are a great company...but this product was not appealing to him. Hope this helps. … more

    palatable?

    By on

My vet recommended we try this food as she heard about it at a conference and said it was touted as being "very palatable." Our CKD kitty likes Blue Buffalo chicken, duck and salmon. She will not touch this stuff. None of our cats will. The texture is very dry, like a loaf. Why on earth would you create something like that for cats who are struggling to eat? They like gravy, moisture, smooth textures. Now I have spent $60 on food no cat will eat. I don't know why it is so difficult to make kidney diets that taste good but it must be a real struggle. Royal Canin kidney-A is the best on the market. My cat will eat that occasionally. Blue with my blue purchase

    By on

I have used regular adult Blue Buffalo cat food for years with my adult cats and they enjoyed both the wet and dry food. Now that I have senior cats at 16 and 17 years old with arthritis and CKD (both extremely common in senior cats which are increasing) I was excited to see that Blue offered a kidney and mobility friendly wet food. However upon its arrival we were disappointed as the food is super firm, my cats can’t eat it bc the consistency is pretty solid and there is no liquid gravy to attract or help them to eat it. The age of cats using this should be considered and the consistency fixed so it is softer and with gravy for senior cats as other brands are much softer. Dry And Cats Hate It

    By on

My two senior cats have been recently prescribed kidney diet. I tried Science Diet and my cats were "Meh". Royal Canin the vet had was with morsels snd my cats prefer pate. I've fed them Blue Buffalo dry food for years. So thought I'd try this brand of prescription food. They HATE it. It's really DRY as far as wet food goes. Both cats refuse to eat unless I mix in other food. That defeats purpose of prescription diet. It was expensive and I still have most of the case left. Would be great if you could order a can or two to TRY before blowing $50 on food they won't eat

    Wet cat food

    By on

This soft food is very dry and does not appeal to my cat. Will just mix it with friskies. Maybe will help her kidney disease some.another fifty bucks spent.

    Special kidney canned food

    By on

The cats don't much like it, it is hard and requires water or something to soften it. Maybe have samples or ability to try a can or two instead of requiring the purchase of a whole case.

    My cats won't touch it

    By on

My cats literally took one bite and then never touched it again. I even gave them just this food over night - they'd rather starve. The consistency is very dry and it doesn't have a strong smell - I guess that's why it's not very appealing to my boys. Fortunately chewy has an extraordinary customer service and gave me a refund. I gave the cans to a local shelter.
