    Cat is okay with it

By Kittay on Jan 5, 2020

This food is on rotation along with the Purina, KD and Hills Kidney can foods for my cat. My cat loves the dry kibble version of this food. He is okay with this wet version which is actually very dry for wet food. I mix it with bone broth by Stella and Chewy to make it more like a regular pate and sprinkle some of the dry food on top and sometimes he eats a lot of it and sometimes he just eats a bit. I'd say he likes it just as much as the Purina, KD and Hills kidney foods (which is to say he doesn't love it but will eat enough of it to satisfy his hunger). … more

    Good quality-strange texture

    By Laura33 on Jul 31, 2019

Recommended, with reservations. Our cat had been prescribed a different renal food, and wouldn't eat it once the transition got to 100%. I did some research, and found this Blue food. I felt good about the ingredients in this food, as we had been feeding him grain-free previously, and no by-products Recommended, with reservations. I felt good about the ingredients in this food, as we had been feeding him grain-free previously, and no by-products. The vet went ahead and provided a Rx for us to try. Our cat would eat it, but I had to mash it up, as the pieces of carrots and sweet potatoes are rather large and abundant. As others have mentioned, the texture of this food is rather strange. The best way I can describe it is that it's exactly like canned refried beans. This in a way was great for our cat, as he only has 2 teeth left. But I would have to add a bit of water to cut down on the sticky, gooey texture. We made it through about a case-and-a-half before changing vets, and trying yet another renal food he recommended that it turns out our cat REALLY likes! I would definitely recommend trying to get a sample from a vet to try before committing to an entire case. It's a very unique canned food in texture. Some may not like it. … more

cat with kidney failure won't eat

    By on

I have tried every (and I do mean every) canned cat food for cats with kidney failure. I gave this 2 stars because my cat ate a few bites. That is the best so far. My cat is picking at the dry food but with kidney failure he needs a canned food too. He has been keeping his weight except for this last vet visit when he lost a little. This food was my last hope. You would think my cat would like the most expensive, but noooo.

Kitty won't eat this food :(

    By on

I really, really wanted my cat to like this food because we've always had good luck with the Blue Buffalo family, but unfortunately she really hates it. At first she'd eat a little of it, but she would sooner sit hungry than eat it nowadays. I am very much dreading serving her a lower-quality prescription food but I have to find something she will eat. Yikes. I really hope Blue comes up with a way to make this food more tasty.

    Kitty Won't Eat It

    By on

I was so happy to find the grade food I prefer to feed my cat. I'm giving it two stars for the quality and ingredients. The price is high but to find a good kidney diet my cat will eat I didn't bat an eye. He ate one can total mixed with his current food over one day never to return to it. It's very sticky too. I tried all the tricks and he'd rather go hungry. I wish it came in morsels, I might have had better luck.

I was hoping he would like this new food, but not a fan of the pate.
