    Cat is okay with it

By Kittay on Jan 5, 2020

This food is on rotation along with the Purina, KD and Hills Kidney can foods for my cat. My cat loves the dry kibble version of this food. He is okay with this wet version which is actually very dry for wet food. My cat loves the dry kibble version of this food. He is okay with this wet version which is actually very dry for wet food. I mix it with bone broth by Stella and Chewy to make it more like a regular pate and sprinkle some of the dry food on top and sometimes he eats a lot of it and sometimes he just eats a bit. I'd say he likes it just as much as the Purina, KD and Hills kidney foods (which is to say he doesn't love it but will eat enough of it to satisfy his hunger). … more

    Good quality-strange texture

    By Laura33 on Jul 31, 2019

Recommended, with reservations. Our cat had been prescribed a different renal food, and wouldn't eat it once the transition got to 100%. I did some research, and found this Blue food. I felt good about the ingredients in this food, as we had been feeding him grain-free previously, and no by-products Recommended, with reservations. I felt good about the ingredients in this food, as we had been feeding him grain-free previously, and no by-products. The vet went ahead and provided a Rx for us to try. Our cat would eat it, but I had to mash it up, as the pieces of carrots and sweet potatoes are rather large and abundant. As others have mentioned, the texture of this food is rather strange. The best way I can describe it is that it's exactly like canned refried beans. This in a way was great for our cat, as he only has 2 teeth left. But I would have to add a bit of water to cut down on the sticky, gooey texture. We made it through about a case-and-a-half before changing vets, and trying yet another renal food he recommended that it turns out our cat REALLY likes! I would definitely recommend trying to get a sample from a vet to try before committing to an entire case. It's a very unique canned food in texture. Some may not like it. … more

    Cats seem to like it!

    By on

My cats seem to like it - it needs to be "mushed" because it is pretty 'solid' wet food. I got it because of the cranberry in it for the UTIs that my female older cat seems to get. Time will tell if it helps - this is a new product for her.

    Healthy and cat loves it

    By on

Prescription foods are so hard to find the right one that your cat will actually eat. This is one that both my cats love. It is a little thick, so I do add some water to make it easier for my cats to eat. This is the best brand and I have tried them all.

    he likes it!

    By on

Having just gotten a diagnosis of kidney issues with our cat Bruno, we were hopeful that this food would work, because the ingredients in the other cat foods for kidney support, that are sold through our vet, do not appear to be of high quality. Bruno didn't like this food the first day, but by the second day, he was all in. I find the texture to be very thick, so I thin the cat food with warm water until it makes a smooth, loose paste.

    Pleasantly surprised with results

My 16yr old Maine Coon entered Stage I kidney failure and vet prescribed a renal diet. Since my cat had been eating a grain-free diet most of it's life, I decided to try the Blue Buffalo natural diet. Of course, from reading reviews of all types of renal diet food, I was not expecting tremendous success, if any at all. To my surprise, my kitty took to the food right away and even lets me know when he's hungry for more. My biggest 'problem' with the new diet is keeping his kitty siblings away from the food - they like it too! The smell reminds me of sweet potatoes, the texture is 'jelly/rubbery' different than regular pate and I cut it up into bits. My kitty has kidney trouble and this food was recommended by my vet. My kitty rejected other wet food, but thankfully this one was successful!

my cat licks the outside of the bowl clean

    By on

My cat suffers from a liver shunt and has to eat a low protein diet. They don't make food for liver shunts so we have to use kidney diets. This diet is amazing. Nellie is a picky eater however with this food she not only licks the inside of her bowl clean she does the outside too!!!!!!! I think that says it all!!!!!

BEST OF ALL THE KIDNEY DIETS

    By on

"BEST" because: it's denser than other brands of canned "K" foods and causes kitties to eat more slowly, Cats, 3 seniors, all like it. Well worth the price. Has aroma that kitties obviously enjoy - neither mom nor dad detect it. This is one of the many Buffalo Blue products we've fed. Kitties are the final judge.

A KM food my cat will eat!

    By on

I'm not a scientist, so rely on the label that assures me this food is OK for my kidney impaired elderly cat, but one thing is certain, she likes it and after starving herself rather than eat other prepared kidney diet foods, this is a blessing. So far, so good.

    She loves it!

    By on

She begs for this food. She's normally a grazer, but eats this all in one sitting. 14 years old, healthy appetite, early kidney disease. She's my princess, and I'm so glad she likes this food. I also like that this has added mobility support. She's a tripod and I don't want her developing arthritis.

    Cat approved

Very happy to find someone else getting in perscription cat food. We switched to this after her interest in hills k/d+mobility went away. So far she's been licking her bowl clean which hasn't been seen since being put on a kidney diet.
