About Blue Buffalo

Dogs with allergies

My Shih Tzu was very itchy until I switched to this food for him. He and the other Shih Tzu both like the food, and the itch is gone. Expensive, but well worth it. THANKS I just got a new puppy (larger breed) and I'm starting him on the puppy food. I trust this brand 100%

So Far So Good

My guy has tolerance issues and we were looking for a non-chicken alternative. Although there is chicken meal, the primary protein is duck and he seems to be doing so much better! I feel that the pieces could be a little bigger, but I know not everyone has a big dog! Very happy with this food.

Negative review

Opened rhe bag and it has a strong odor of fish. Both of my dogs ate it and developed diarrhea the next day.

I thought I’d try it but turns out my dog won’t eat it. I’ve never owned such a picky dog. I was a little disappointed it didn’t come in a smaller weight. This is no fault of chewys or blue buffalo.

Stank Farts

We used the old duck recipe for years. We tried other foods a few times but chicken recipes always made our Weim have very smelly gas. We did not have this problem with the old duck recipe and we were dedicated to Blue Buffalo. The new recipe gives her stinkiest farts ever. I looked at the Red Meat recipe to consider switching and it now has the dried chicken too. What’s up Blue Buffalo????? It looks like you are gonna lose a lot of business. It’s not the grain free thing either so don’t even go there. You snuck in this dried chicken that is giving our babies the stomach ache.

New formula=unhappy dogs

Our three dogs usually looove this brand. Only brand we buy honestly. However, wanted to try a new flavor to “mix it up” and two of my less picky dogs normally eat so fast. With this formula, our two dogs are barely eating and have diarrhea and vomiting. It’s only been a couple days so I will update if this changes.

Good stuff

When the old recipe was not available, I switched to Basics. Not good. We've had an increase in food aggression and food seeking although his bowl is full. So I switched back to the now 'new recipe', and we haven't had any problems. A happy boy once more.

Bodie likes it!

We were having problems with a fussy (spoiled) pooch (Bodie, a Decker Fire Mountain Rat Terrier) and this product has been eaten without a problem.

Blue Buffalo Wilderness

My dog has been on the Blue Buffalo Wilderness formula for 3-4 months. The Duck seems to be very compatible with her GI tract and I will try to keep her on this protein type permanently. Her weight is good and she is a free feed consuming about 2-1/2 cups per day.
