About six years ago my older kitties (they were 9yo at the time) were becoming overweight. Their doctor had a sit-down meeting with me, and she told me I needed to change their diet by increasing the percentage of protein in their dry food. Looking at all the choices I selected blue wilderness (85% protein). Each kitty gets about a tablespoon of the salmon along with a tablespoon of chicken for their first dry food feeding. They get this dry food about 2 hours after the morning wet food. I'm fortunately in the position where I can schedule feedings. But if I had to feed and leave them during the day, I would try to proportion the food, so that it is gone or almost gone be the time I get home. At night feed more chicken and some other variety such as science diet. Feed amount so that it is gone by bedtime or close to it is best.
We had to switch to another grain-free option because the previous brand we were using was rabbit, which proved to be too rich for our sensitive stomach sufferers and was causing runny bottoms. This version is not only apparently delicious, but we saw an almost immediate result from the new food.
My cats both really have a preference for this I think due to the smaller kibble size. I supplement with wet food but the dry is their main. I’d been feeding them another high end grain free dry food but wound up grabbing a bag of this on the road and made the switch. I love Chewy’s auto shipping!
I have started buying this food for the many feral kittens and cats in my neighborhood. I bought an auto feeder and a shelter I hope they will use in the winter. I just wish the food would have stayed the price I payed for the first bag. I will probably have to move up the reorder as there are so many. I wanted them to have a quality food since they are feral. Wish Chewy had coupons. I understand and do appriciate Chewy.
I thought my cats would like this but all 3 turned up their noses and walked away from their bowls. I don't know if it's the size of the kibble or the smell. No one is talking...My dog LOVES her Blue Buffalo.
My 2 year old loves pate Fancy Feast and Catnip Temptation treats, but does NOT enjoy Blue Wilderness. He DOES like Purina Beyond Salmon flavor, so that's what I'll be buying him from now on.
The company is amazing to say the least! I love the Autoship program!
Like a previous recent reviewer, my cats (2 indoor, 1 outdoor) gobbled up their Wilderness Salmon dry cat food readily. However, I think I got a bad bag from Chewy this time around, as none of my cats will take even one bite. They just smell it and walk away.
This is a staple of my cats diet, and I would give it 5 stars if the 11 lb bag had a zip closure to keep it fresh.
arrived broken open in box and scattered everywhere
