8 Customer Questions
Is this first, second or third cut hay?
Answer by • Apr 07, 2019
The Volkman Hay Box is a first cut Timothy hay.
Would this work for guinea pigs?
Answer by • Apr 17, 2019
This is suitable for small pets like rabbits, degus, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and hamsters.
I’m trying to figure out what makes this product “no-mess.” Do you serve the hay to the animals in the box instead of putting it in a hay holder?
Answer by • Jan 12, 2022
You can feed the Timothy Hay straight from the box, the box is also a great chewing aid. However, the "no mess" claim comes from the hay being boxed in a convenient, easy to open, easy to store container with a single flake of hay.
How long can this last
Answer by • Mar 22, 2020
If stored properly in a cool dark place with good ventilation, the Timothy Hay Food may keep for 6 months or longer. Hay must be kept dry. Excess moisture can encourage the growth of molds that are damaging to your pigs' health. Putting hay in plastic bags is only safe and/or practical if the moisture content of the hay is extremely low. Ideally, choose a place free of mice, out of the sunlight and off the ground.
