They do have an odor the way a lot of natural dried treats do, but it doesn’t linger too long after the fact as long as you don’t let em eat it on something absorbent like upholstery. Definitely keep an eye on your dog and make sure they chew appropriately, some dogs may try to swallow chunks that are too big; they aren’t good for scarfers. Wish they sorted and sold them based on (rough)circumference as well as length— it’s normal for natural items to vary in size, but they’d be more of a value if sorted to be more consistent.
My dog is allergic to chicken so finding treats that he can eat takes a bit more effort. Saw these and got excited. Dog loves them. But omg that smell! I immediately made him chew them outside! They smell like rotten roadkill that's been sitting on a louisiana road for 2 weeks then they made it into a bone. Will not buy again
I wanted to love this and I really think my dog would love the chew, but it smells so bad I can’t let him have it. I have a high tolerance for smells. Most dog “bones” and chews don’t smell the best, but as soon as you rip open the package the horrible smell permeates your nose. I fear any surface it touches would soak up the smell. Only recommend for a dog that chews outside in the grass, ect.
I bought these for our dogs and upon opening the bag we almost passed out from the smell. The dogs wanted to roll in them like they do when they find something dead. Never buy these as I threw them away, the smell was unbelievable.
The dogs seemed to like them but they smell so bad you can't even be in the room with them. And then it lingered on the furniture so I had to wash everything.
My dogs love these treats. They get so excited when I open the package. The part that makes me not want to purchase these is the size difference. They are all 6 inches long but there is a big difference in the thickness. Since I am paying per item not weight this is disappointing. Some are 1/2 inch or less and some are 1 1/2 inch thick. The chew time is 10 minutes for a small one or 25 minutes for the larger ones.
There are a lot of reviews on other chews complaining that they smell bad. I don't usually agree with those reviews, like yes bully sticks have a smell but for me its no big deal. I've farmed almost all poultry and livestock for 10 years (goats, beef and dairy cattle, pigs, chickens, ducks, ect) so I can deal with smells. But these smell distinctly of rotting meat... don't get me wrong my puppy still loved it but I will not buy again. It concerns me because the package does not have an expiration while other products from this brand do (specifically bully sticks and the tripe twists) so I have to wonder if these are terribly old? I gave my puppy one and he did not get sick but it still makes me nervous.
Dolly loved these water Buffalo dog treats but they disappeared way too quickly! No problems with digestion which is excellent and no waste!
Giving our dogs this “treat” cost me over $400 in vet bills. I apologize for the photo but want you to know how bad these are. You can see the bone that was left in when made. Yes, that is blood and that is a bone at the top. Please keep your pups safe!
My dogs were only semi-interested in this treat; there are many more treats that Chewy carries that they enjoy much more.
