Not bad but not perfect
We were hoping this toy would be sturdy enough for our 35 lb dog. It mostly is, but it's not without flaws. The stitching for the fins on the side of the rope whale are just not that strong, so he was able to chew them off very quickly. But the rope body is still in good condition after a few days of play, as is the bone. One note on the bone though, it sheds alot. We have to vacuum after he's playing with it because white specs of bone will be everywhere. Kind of like chalk. But otherwise, it's a good toy.
The favorite toy
Absolutely love this toy. It’s so cute and Ekko loves it so much, he drags it with him everywhere and it holds up insanely well to his sharp puppy teeth. Only note is a friend threw it for him on our hard basement floor and the bone broke off, which eventually led to the whole thing unraveling since I think the bone holds the rope in place. Nevertheless, I ordered a second one once Ekko had thoroughly destroyed the first (we still kept the unraveled rope tatters for backup tug toys). Second one is holding up just fine and we just don’t throw it on concrete
Such a great toy. Not noisy, but the “water bottle” inside is exciting enough for him. Loves the bone. Keeps him really entertained. Only downfall is he ripped off the “fins” really fast and easily. He’s committed to chewing through it. But I think it’s great and will be purchasing again once it’s destroyed.
Heavy use and still intact....mostly
My pack really likes this one. Within about 20 minutes, the "fins" and "tail" were gone; however the rest of the toy is still in great condition. One thing to be care of is the bone ring around the tail end. If you toss/throw around the house, it can take it's toll on furniture or any heads that may get in the way. Definite keeper.
My German Shorthaired Pointer puppy DESTROYED this toy in less than one day. The individual ropes that are part of the toy were individually removed and shredded. There is a plastic bottle of some kind inside the toy, which provides a crackle when chomped on. Yeah, that was destroyed quickly as well. The "bone" holding everything together ... at the tail end of the tail ... also was cracked and destroyed rather quickly. Bottom line: don't expect this one to last if you have a dog who does what mine does. It might be suitable for a calm and docile older dog.
Great but didnt last long
Great toy, my dog loved it! Only problem: my baby is a chewer who had this shredded in less than a week, and managed to swallow quite a bit of rope, thankfully he passed it all, but Im hesitant to buy again in the event he doesnt pass it the next time. If you're dog shreds without eating, then this is a good tough toy
I bought this because it looked like it would be pretty durable. Our dogs had the fins removed in about an hour and the threads that make up the "rope" are everywhere. I had to take the toy away because I was afraid they would ingest them. I don't recommend this product.
Well there goes another one
I really had high hopes for this one. It seems like my dogs do better with the rope toys and I really thought this one would be around for a while. Evidently a while means 20 minutes. I thought the thing was a solid rope whale, not. There is a big piece of plastic in the middle holding what is the start of the whale and that's what makes it look so full. They have ripped this into strings and have started into the plastic. They do however love the bone that is attached to it and some of the rope is still holding up. I think if this had actually been solid they wouldn't have gotten into it so fast. I cut the plastic out of it and I'm letting them chew on it until it is no more which seems like maybe that won't be long.
Best Dog Toy
I have given this as a gift to countless new dog owners, including friends and family. Not destructible and they love it. Great gift and long lasting. Am buying extras to have as gifts, and replacements as I am sure after a year or two, one will have to be replaced. Ha ha. Have had mine for 2 years.
Such a good idea..
A great idea for a dog that is not interested in tearing and shredding toys. He immediately started chewing on a fin and was gone before I realized and could cut off. The tail was next and lasted a bit longer because he couldn’t get the body positioned well. After the tail was shredded, I cut it off, but it left lots of strings which he immediately began to pull at. I thought for certain it would last as the tail and fins are canvas. Would be wonderful for normal play.
