I switched to Boxiecat from Fresh Step, which I'd used for years. Fresh Step must have changed their formulation because the clay was becoming sticky and mud-like, sticking to the sides & bottom of the tray. I really like Boxie so far - it seems to be an improvement in both those areas. The texture is more sand-like, which I like a lot better. It's absorbent, it clumps better, and it holds down odor a bit more than Fresh Step. Only negative so far: It's pricey. I'll see how often I have to reorder after I've been using it a while.
I have a cat that will put his foot in this urine and then hop out leaving litter in his wake. Since I clean the litter box daily, I can't get to these droppings before they harden. The only way to clear the floor is to use a brush with some type of cleaning fluid. I do not have this problem with regular litter. I will no longer be purchasing this due to my cat's behavior and the hardening of litter on the floor. Of course, I understand that this hardening feature is the best thing this product has and I love it outside of my cat's behavior.
My old litter would really start to smell bad very quickly despite scooping at least once every day. Boxie Cat clumps are usually much better and easier to scoop. Plus I only need to completely change the litter once every four weeks.
It works well in the Liter Robot 4, but it tracks big time. It has a lot of finer particles that make it clump well, but the mess they make outside the box is a deal breaker. Only difference between this and Tidy cat is the scenting.
I decided to try this cat litter. It is absolutely great not having dust. I don't find it clumps any better than Scoop Away, Frisco or Arm & Hammer. It does pretty on odor.
I use this litter in my Litter Robots. Just want to mention this for other Robot owners. While getting help with my Robot the agent said this litter is denser (heavier) than other common brands so they advise not filling the globe all the way to the white line—-1/2 inch below. The sensors on the Robot are calibrated to less weight. News to me.
This litter is the best! I was using Dr Elseys Ultra for my cat, but it is too dusty. Boxicat has very low dust and minimal tracking. I am a fan.
I like this litter because when my cats go potty, I do not smell it. When I read about this litter it says that when they urinate it stays clumped up on the top - it doesn't. I will buy it again because this is the first litter that does in fact not smell when my kitty's go.
This litter seems to have less dust than other clumping litter. However, it takes up less space in the litter box, and that may be why it does not seem to smother the smells as well. I originally used about two thirds of the bag, going based on weight, but after two days I dumped the rest in, so we will see how that works. I am hoping that deeper litter will get the job done better (getting those stink bombs covered fully).
Chewy is so easy! Comparable prices to pet stores with none of the hassle moving 40 pound bags of litter from the store to my home.
