As industry innovators and experts on pet hair, FURminator® understands the entire shedding cycle and the role that hair care and hygiene play in helping to reduce and control shedding.
In order to properly groom your pet with FURminator, start at the head and work your way toward the tail. Brush your pet's coat in the direction of growth and angle the FURminator brush for best results. Use long, gentle strokes and go slowly so you don't startle your pet. Giving treats for good behavior can help your pet relax during the session, too. The FURminator should be used on dry fur only, so don't use it right after you give your pet a bath.
FURminator brushes are deshedding brushes that help you groom your cat or dog at home. These special deshedding tools feature a stainless steel edge to help reach beneath the topcoat and remove loose hair from the undercoat. FURminator also makes a variety of other pet grooming brushes, including regular dog and cat brushes, dematting brushes, grooming rakes, curry combs, slicker brushes and more.
You should brush your pet with FURminator once or twice a week. A regular brushing with FURminator should take around 10-20 minutes, but times will vary by pet. How often and how long you should brush will depend on things like the thickness and length of your pet's coat as well as its overall condition. Short-haired pets and those with sensitive skin may need fewer and shorter brushing sessions with the FURminator.
