Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Bravo making canned foods?

At Bravo we’ve always believed in simplicity, quality and choice. Our new Canine Cafe and Feline Cafe lines provide high - quality, simple limited - ingredient formulas for those pet parents who prefer to feed canned foods.

Are these new products raw?

No, all of our Canine and Feline Cafe products are cooked. However, like our raw diet products, they are made with quality muscle meats and poultry and contain no fillers, preservatives, artificial flavors or meat and poultry meal or grain.

Can I heat these products?

Our Canine Cafe and Feline Cafe products are ready to serve right from the can, but can be warmed slightly if that is what your dog/cat prefers. Do not heat the food in the can. We suggest you transfer it to a microwave safe bowl or dish for heating in the microwave or a pan for gentle heating on the stove. Do not overheat/overcook and feed a hot food to your dog or cat - always try to bring it back to room temperature before serving. Please refrigerate any unused/unheated portions in an airtight container.

Are the ingredients all from the USA? (Anything made from ingredients sourced in China)?

Bravo never ever sources ingredients from China. We source our ingredients from reputable suppliers in the USA and countries other than China. You can find Country of Origin information for all of our products by visiting the respective Canine Cafe and Feline Cafe product pages.

Are they GMO free?

We use ingredients known to be GMO free.

Do they contain any wheat, soy or corn?

No, they do not contain wheat, soy or corn. They are all completely grain - free.

Do the cat formulas have any taurine?

All of our Feline Cafe formulas have all of the essential vitamins and minerals, including added taurine. The amount of taurine meets the requirement for complete and balanced for all life stages.

Can I feed them to a puppy (kitten)?

All of our Canine Cafe and Feline Cafe products are suitable for all life stages. Please see our feeding guide for serving sizes, although it is typically suggested to let puppies and kittens eat as much as they need in the early stages.

Do they contain antibiotics or hormones?

No, Bravo products are always made from clean meats and poultry, which means no added antibiotics. There are no added hormones in any of the poultry. Federal law allows the use of hormones when raising beef or lamb so we can’t guarantee that the farmer did not use medicinal hormones when the animal was raised.

Are there any additives or preservatives?

No, our Canine Cafe and Feline Cafe products do not have any artificial preservatives, flavors or colors.

I thought raw was supposed to be better for my dog/cat?

What to feed one’s companion animals is a very personal choice. There are those pet parents who are passionate about feeding raw, while others prefer to feed a canned option. At Bravo we’ve always believed in simple, limited ingredient formulas, made from top quality ingredients from trusted sources - nothing from China - and providing a choice of protein type and formula type (stews vs. dinners). Our new canned food lines provide all of those benefits to pet parents who prefer to feed canned foods as we do to those pet parents who prefer to feed raw.

Does this product meet AAFCO standards?

Yes, all of our Canine Cafe and Feline Cafe formulas meet the AAFCO standards for complete and balanced nutrition for all life stages.

Transition Instructions

As with any new food, you should introduce it to your dog or cat slowly by incorporating small amounts into their daily meals and increasing the amount until it comprises a full portion of their daily meal. The best transition is a slow transition.

  • Just so-so

Although the cats are on a beef binge, they only "picked" at this. I thought it would go over great, but once again - you just never know. I can't give any food to my one tabby that contains the green-lipped mussels - I think he has a shellfish allergy! Is that possible? The first time he tried something containing them, he immediately stepped away and projectile vomited! I have never given him any since! No crab or lobster either - just in case! I must say though - my one outdoor cat really liked it.

  • Good ingredients, but cats always leave some behind

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I was hoping to find an affordable, high quality food that all three cats would love. One cat cleans his bowl, but the other two aren't as crazy about this after the first feeding. They leave at least half, which is not normal for them with foods they like. Fritz and I give the product a 5 for good ingredients and a nice pate with adequate moisture. Louie and Maggie give it a 3.

  • Highly rated and cats love it!

    By on

I purchased this cat food based on a recommendation from Truth About Pet Food. It is a little pricey and I am feeding my army of cats so I buy small quantities while feeding them another highly recommended brand. So far there are no problems and all of my cats love it. Some of them have stomach issues with other foods but all seem to be digesting it well.

  • Cats like it at first

    By on

After buying a few cans of Bravo locally that the cats loved, I bought a case of the same variety. Unfortunately, my indoor fickle felines leave most of the food in the bowl and continue pleading for more food. Argh. How frustrating for all of us. Our outdoor cats are happy -- more food for them to eat. Will continue searching for food that is palatable to all.

  • PERFECT FOR DIABETIC AND ALLERGY INDUCED ASTHMATIC CAT

    By on

I have been searching and buying a variety of canned wet food for my diabetic cat. While they're not crazy about this food (they'll eat it), it had a low carb count, 5%, for my diabetic cat (my vet talked to the manufacturer). In addition, it didn't have any of the ingredients that my pet is allergic to: soy, corn, alfalfa, and flaxseed.

  • My cats would not eat this, but it seems like a good food

    By on

I don't want to give this any bad stars, it really does seem like a great food. However my cats won't really eat it. I have 3 cats, all males, about 9 and 10 years old. I went through half a case trying. I think they may have eaten a little bit of it, but I was wasting too much of it as they would leave a lot of it on the plate and then I would have to throw it out after a day. Not sure why they didn't eat it. Seems like a great quality food.

  • Cats love this one!

I set down four different types of canned cat food in front of my "test subjects". Three that they knew and liked, plus the Bravo! 95% Beef, Turkey, and Liver. Four cats crowded around the dish of Bravo! They polished it off before they even considered any of the other foods. Additionally, the two foster kittens agreed that it's mighty tasty! Even my old guy in renal failure liked it! The phosphorus is a bit high for him (all nutritional info is on Bravo's website, which I strongly appreciate), but it's nice to have something new to tempt him with. We're going to try the beef fricassee tomorrow because the phosphorus in that one is slightly lower (still not below 1%, but close). I will mention that the description is wrong - it says that it's "shreds" - it's not, it's pate. Good texture, too - not too dry, not too soupy. Bottom line - recommended. … more
