Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Bravo making canned foods?

At Bravo we’ve always believed in simplicity, quality and choice. Our new Canine Cafe and Feline Cafe lines provide high - quality, simple limited - ingredient formulas for those pet parents who prefer to feed canned foods.

Are these new products raw?

No, all of our Canine and Feline Cafe products are cooked. However, like our raw diet products, they are made with quality muscle meats and poultry and contain no fillers, preservatives, artificial flavors or meat and poultry meal or grain.

Can I heat these products?

Our Canine Cafe and Feline Cafe products are ready to serve right from the can, but can be warmed slightly if that is what your dog/cat prefers. Do not heat the food in the can. We suggest you transfer it to a microwave safe bowl or dish for heating in the microwave or a pan for gentle heating on the stove. Do not overheat/overcook and feed a hot food to your dog or cat - always try to bring it back to room temperature before serving. Please refrigerate any unused/unheated portions in an airtight container.

Are the ingredients all from the USA? (Anything made from ingredients sourced in China)?

Bravo never ever sources ingredients from China. We source our ingredients from reputable suppliers in the USA and countries other than China. You can find Country of Origin information for all of our products by visiting the respective Canine Cafe and Feline Cafe product pages.

Are they GMO free?

We use ingredients known to be GMO free.

Do they contain any wheat, soy or corn?

No, they do not contain wheat, soy or corn. They are all completely grain - free.

Do the cat formulas have any taurine?

All of our Feline Cafe formulas have all of the essential vitamins and minerals, including added taurine. The amount of taurine meets the requirement for complete and balanced for all life stages.

Can I feed them to a puppy (kitten)?

All of our Canine Cafe and Feline Cafe products are suitable for all life stages. Please see our feeding guide for serving sizes, although it is typically suggested to let puppies and kittens eat as much as they need in the early stages.

Do they contain antibiotics or hormones?

No, Bravo products are always made from clean meats and poultry, which means no added antibiotics. There are no added hormones in any of the poultry. Federal law allows the use of hormones when raising beef or lamb so we can’t guarantee that the farmer did not use medicinal hormones when the animal was raised.

Are there any additives or preservatives?

No, our Canine Cafe and Feline Cafe products do not have any artificial preservatives, flavors or colors.

I thought raw was supposed to be better for my dog/cat?

What to feed one’s companion animals is a very personal choice. There are those pet parents who are passionate about feeding raw, while others prefer to feed a canned option. At Bravo we’ve always believed in simple, limited ingredient formulas, made from top quality ingredients from trusted sources - nothing from China - and providing a choice of protein type and formula type (stews vs. dinners). Our new canned food lines provide all of those benefits to pet parents who prefer to feed canned foods as we do to those pet parents who prefer to feed raw.

Does this product meet AAFCO standards?

  • Great! Great! Great! Great!

    By on

This is all my 6 month old Havanese will eat. I tried other food and she just refuses to eat. I was sprinkling treats on her food to get her to eat. Now that we have the dinners she cleans her bowl clean! Thank you! No more stress trying to get my puppy to eat.

  • Dogs didn’t like

    By on

Unfortunately my two dogs did not like this. They live Primal, Natures Instict and Stella and chewys but they wouldn’t touch this. My lab baxter isn’t fussy at all but something about this he wouldn’t eat I ended up throwing it out sadly, I know chewy would have refunded me but they already have so many times I didn’t ask but they have a great return policy

  • Puppy Loves It

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I bought this for my 15-week-old puppy. I didn't want to buy frozen raw, as it is very costly and can spoil easily. My puppy absolutely loves it. I mix his probiotics and digestive enzymes in with this and he inhales it.

  • So far we love it!

    By on

I recently bought this dog food my my 12 yr old border collie - Ellie - because our vet said she was in the upper normal levels on her kidney blood work. Ellie really likes this food, altho it is hard to get her to wait while it "soaks" for the 20 minutes on the instructions! We'll see in a few weeks what the new blood work shows.

  • Wholesome Quality - BUT- Some Pieces Are Too Big

    By on Top 1 Contributor

Great food that they like but some of the ingredients were too big for our terriers. Had to cut them up. Also...this really needs an overnight soak to be soft enough for them to eat properly and digest fully. Some of the green beans came out the same way they went in on the 15-20 minute re-hydrate time as stated on the bag.

  • It smells good and is probably tasty but

    By on

This food does not expand when you add water at all. Hundred bucks for 6 pounds is extreme. The bag states that it should make 30 pounds of food, no way. There is only 12 cups for a small dog of 10 pounds, that is only 12 days of food for one small dog for a hundred bucks. And I have 6 of 10 and up pound s small dogs. It also smells like some of it been cooked. And there's barely any meat. I am beyond confused why I spent so much money on this.

  • Good alternative to frozen raw food

    By on

Our dog had been on frozen raw food for 7 years. He finally had enough. After trying numerous options, we found Bravo! freeze dried turkey and he gobbles it up. It's much easier to deal with than the frozen, albeit more expensive. But he's worth it!

  • Good good if you can afford it

    By on

We are happy with the food and how our dog loves it! The cons for us is the price and how long it takes to become hydrated enough to feed. Even if I make it early she can smell it and she can't stand the wait!

  • Just okay...

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I tried this as a filler to my Havanese puppies regular food and it was bad but wasn't particularly great either. It is okay and I've purchased both better and worse. The nuggets just seem light and not very hearty. I really like the Bravo freeze-dried Beef dinner much better.
